October 2024
Principal's Corner
Pine Street Families,
Fall is here and we have had a great start to our school year. Our students have been busy diving into new learning after our beginning of the year assessments. Pine Street after school activities are also up and running. Our first intramural, soccer, is almost done and the first meetings of game club and student council took place last week. If you child is still interested in game club or art club there is still time to sign up. They can grab a form outside the office. Our next intramural is volleyball and those sign ups are also available.
We are excited to meet with parents on October 8th and 10th for parent teacher conferences. At that time teachers will share with you all the wonderful things your child has been up to the first 6 weeks of school. They will also go over students' progress report and scores on fall NWEA and Running Records as well as M-Step testing from last spring. If you do not have a time schedule for a conference, please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher.
As always feel free to reach out anytime to your child's teacher or the office if you have any questions or concerns.
Enjoy this beautiful fall weather!
Your partner in education,
Robyn Robinson
Principal, Pine Street Elementary

ROARS Winners!
Congratulations to our September ROARS Winners!
Each month we recognize students for displaying positive behavior in their classroom and throughout Pine Street Elementary with our ROARS award, Recognizing Outstanding Achievement in Respect, Responsibility and Safety. The winners for the month of September are:
Simone Gutierrez, Blaine DeNoo, Stella Snider, Rachel Marin, Noah Kas, Preston Zimmer, Ashley Sophia, Logan Alexander, Avery Hibma, Gracie DeBar, Liam VanLokhuyzen, LJ Bonte, Mia Perez, Emma Hall, and Jayce Frantz.
Halloween
Halloween costumes can be worn to school on Thursday, October 31st. Please remember that all school rules apply to costumes: they must follow the dress code, no fake blood or gore, and no weapons.
Please see teacher communications regarding specific classroom plans! We do ask that if you plan to send a treat in that it is prepackaged. If your student's teacher is inviting parents in for a classroom party, you must complete the volunteer application first. The application can be found here!
Fun Friday
Intramural Volleyball
Registration forms can be picked up outside of the office! Please be sure forms are returned by Friday, November 1!
Reminders
Daily Snack
Please remember to send a healthy snack with your student every day! Students who don't have a snack often come to the office for one and our emergency resources are quickly dwindling.
Nurturing Our Readers
Capturing Kids' Hearts
In October, students will focus on developing self-direction—an important skill that involves setting goals and actively working towards them while making positive choices.
Below, you’ll find our family newsletters, which include information and activities you can engage in at home each month. We’ll continue to share these resources in the Pine Street Press.
