Dear Parents and Carers,
The weeks seem to be getting busier and busier. It has been wonderful week in school filled with Geography fieldwork, local walks around the village, school trips, phonics screening and multiplication assessments.
Last weekend, many volunteers joined us for our Big Build on the school field. We are so grateful to everyone involved. The project was a huge success and the children have been amazed by all the fabulous new additions. Thank you to RJC Plant Services, Strettons MOT Centre, Lindum Turf York, Bevic Marketing and the Blakey Brothers who all donated materials and/or their time. Without the generosity of these local businesses, the project would not have gone ahead. Thank you to all the parents who were able to volunteer. You all worked so hard to make the day a success.
You may have noticed that the 20mph signs have started to appear in the village. This is all due to the hard work of our current Year 5 children who campaigned to have the speed limit reduced. Well done Year 5 for helping to keep our village safe.
We are very proud of our Year 1 children who have all worked really hard for their statutory phonics screening test. Well done also to our Year 4 children who have completed their statutory multiplication test earlier this week. All the hard work that you have done on TTRockstars has really paid off.
We look forward to welcoming Mrs Walmsley back next week. Thank you for all your support whilst she has been absent.

Message from Head Pupils
We’ve had another busy week in school. All the children are very excited to try out all the new amazing play equipment on the field. Thank you RJC for installing them for us. On Thursday reception went to Askham Bryan on a trip and we’ve heard they had a wonderful time. Finally, today year 6 went to Harrogate to take part in the Brownlee triathlon. Everyone took part and made themselves proud. We even got a medal, t-shirt and a goodie bag! Have a lovely weekend.
