It is hard to believe that we are already into September. Our school year has gotten off to a great start! The beginning of the school year can bring a wide-range of emotions. Our staff does an incredible job of supporting our students as they adjust to the new school year and building a strong classroom community that is based on trust and respect. We are looking forward to all we are going to do and accomplish this year at Kelly. Our staff has been working very hard as they are continuously looking for ways to challenge our students and help them grow academically, socially and emotionally. We are also looking forward to partnering with all of you to provide our students the best experience possible.

PreK - 5th Grade Administrative Structure
We are continuing with the same administrative structure this school year for our two elementary school buildings. Mr. Wetzel is the Principal at both buildings and Mr. Hoffmaster is the Assistant Principal at both buildings. Mr. Wetzel and Mr. Hoffmaster will be rotating to both schools so Linntown and Kelly will have one of them present each school day. This structure has proven beneficial as our 3rd graders transition to Linntown for 4th grade and to help create a streamlined approach Kindergarten through 5th grade.

D.A.S.H Rules
At the start of each school year, we review our school-wide rules and expectations. Our rules are designed to teach, recognize and praise the behaviors we expect from our students and to support the needs of our students using a systematic approach. Students will receive Dragon Stars from staff when they are meeting the behavioral expectations that are part of our D.A.S.H. rules. Reviewing behavioral expectations with your child and providing positive reinforcement at home is a powerful way to instill the positive behaviors we are striving for at Kelly Elementary School.
Parent Drop Off Information
We want to give a thank you to our families that have done parent drop-off in the morning(s) this school year. Overall, it has gone very smoothly and been very safe for our students and families. We just wanted to share a couple of reminders about this process. If you would like to walk your child(ren) to the school, we ask that you park in a spot in the parking lot and not in the line of cars that follows the curb near the school. You should then use the crosswalk and wait for a staff member to signal you to cross. Also, prior to driving away, just make sure your child is clear of the car and the car door is closed. We want to continue to make sure this is a smooth and safe process for everyone so these simple procedures will help in continuing the great start to the school year with this process.
