A Note from Mrs. Stefanich
Hello Park Families,
I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful Fall weather we are experiencing! It has been great weather for recess outside. This week we had the opportunity to teach recess expectations and recess games to each of our grade levels in rotations. It was a great time to remind them to be safe, take turns, and have lots of fun at recess.
Halloween
For Halloween this year, we will once again be doing our Halloween Parade throughout our neighborhood! Our plan is to start our parade at 9:30am from the bus loop and head through a parade route that ends at the front of our school. The final route will be emailed soon, and we invite you and your families to watch along the route! Please send your child to school in their costume if they’d like to dress up. All kids get to participate in the parade, whether they dress up or not. However, if your child does dress up, please send something for them to change into for the rest of the school day.
Conferences
Our parent-teacher conferences are coming up on November 19 and 21. We are looking forward to meeting with you and discussing your child’s progress so far this year! Our goal is to meet with each of our families during these days, so please prioritize this time with your child’s teacher. Watch for an email to come on November 4 to schedule your times with teachers online.
Survey
Remember in the last newsletter when I asked you to fill out a survey if you were interested in learning more about topics at our school? Well, as it turns out, you could only fill out the survey if you had a Hudsonville email. Clearly that was not super effective, but I can do Hard Things! Let’s give this another try, now that I have the proper settings applied. If you would be interested in coming in to school to learn more about our new math curriculum, reading instruction, PBIS, or any other topics, would you take a minute to fill out this quick four question survey?
Have a wonderful weekend,
Mrs. Stefanich
Doctors Note Anyone?
Did you know that we accept doctors notes when your child returns from an appointment? If your child has an extended illness or attends an appointment and the absence is accompanied by a doctors note the absence will not be flagged as truant. Under Hudsonville Pubic School guidelines if a student is above a 10% ratio of absences at any point during the school year a truancy (attendance) letter will be sent home. A doctors note makes it so the absence is not counted as part of that 10%.
P.E. Cares Food Drive
The PE CARES food drive will begin November 1st and will run until November 22. In an attempt to bring in a better variety of foods, we are asking each grade level to bring in different food g
*Pre-K, K, and 1st - Carbohydrates (pasta, rice, crackers, cereal, etc)
*2nd/3rd - Fruits and Vegetables
*4th - Proteins and Other (tuna fish, peanut butter, baked beans, etc)
**All: Toiletries (deodorant, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, etc.)
However, all food donations will be accepted, even if they don't fit into your category. The class that brings in the highest number of items will win a bowling field trip to Hudsonville Lanes! Thank you for your help and support in this community service project, and for taking this opportunity to teach our kids compassion and love for others!!
Growth Mindset Statement for October
I Can Do Hard Things!
This is a great growth mindset for home or school! In fact, I heard a parent say this to their child just today! I remind myself of this every time I have to make a difficult decision, when I feel overwhelmed, or when I want to model to my children that it's okay to take risks. Remember, discomfort is when growth happens, so don't be afraid to do hard things!
