Ready Math Curriculum
Self-Paced Professional Development Course
What is Ready / iReady Mathematics?
Southwest Parke adopted Curriculum Associates' award-winning math program as the K-6 curriculum beginning with the 2018-2019 school year. This program involves three components that work in harmony with one another to combine an assessment of each student's individual needs, monitoring of his/her progress throughout the school year, and teacher-lead classroom instruction based on the rigor brought by the current Indiana Academic Standards.
i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive test that adjusts its questions to suit your child’s performance. Its purpose is not to give your child a score or grade but instead to determine where they need the most support.

What are other educators saying about it?
- We have had great success with the entire program, and I believe it will definitely show on our ISTEP scores this year. - S. Schwendenman
- We really like the useful data we get to guide instruction. It makes it easy to make flexible instructional groups and provides small group lessons and activities as well. It is a very conceptual based learning program which is new to teachers and has been a learning curve for teachers, students, and parents. But we know we will benefit from this instruction as we go along and grade levels have more experience with it. The online math lessons based on the formative data has been very well received too for math. - S. Bergum
- I really love how engaged I feel with my class while teaching out of Ready Math. I love the conversations my students are starting to have during the lessons. I have really tried to get my students to share even their mistakes and have praised them for their participation. - B. Porter

UNITS
A “unit” is about a month long
Start on the Unit Opener Page (in the Teacher Reference Book “TRB”)
This page shows coherence & learning progression
The current unit is highlighted but shows you what comes before and beyond (same year and other grade levels)
Important to know where you are, where it’s been and where it is headed before you begin teaching.
The lessons may only introduce a concept that will be fully taught later
The Progression of Addition and Subtraction Video (traditional vs conceptual)
Traditionally taught students do not see the value, they just see the digits
Process standards are just as important as the content standards
They actually drive the ILEARN test at the higher grades
