Principals' Update
12/15/24
Greetings MacArthur Families,
We are so excited for our upcoming Winter Concert this week! This year’s Winter Concert theme is Friends and Family. Please join us on Thursday morning for this special event. Grades K-2 will perform at 9:15am. Grades 3-5 will perform at 10:15am. Please see below for our concert logistics.
Carpooling is recommended. The parking lot will be full. We appreciate your cooperation with not double parking.
Families are encouraged to stay & enjoy the entire performance of each grade band (K-2 / 3-5).
Doors will open at approximately 9 am for the first concert. Doors will open at approximately 10 am for the second concert.
Following the Grade K-2 show, we encourage families not staying for the Grade 3-5 show to exit promptly to open up spaces in the parking lot. This is greatly appreciated.
Concert rehearsal will take place on Wednesday. All students playing instruments should have their instruments on both Wednesday and Thursday.
Concert Dress: Please review the following message from Ms. Zuckerman and reach out with any questions. On Thursday, students should wear their picture day or special occasion clothes for the performance. They may bring a change of clothes to wear for the remainder of the school day if they wish. During the performance, students may not wear hats, reindeer antlers, or other headwear that sticks up because it blocks the view of the students behind them.
Thank you to Ms. Zuckerman, Ms. Kelley, Ms. Souza, Mr. Dyson, Mr. Biela, and Mr. Burke for all of their work to prepare the students for our concert.
A special thanks to Ms. Smidt for preparing our Winter Concert Art Display in the gym. Students in grades 1, 4 and 5 have been learning how to draw figures or furthering their figure drawing abilities. In honor of this year’s concert theme, MacArthur artists have made self-portraits with outstretched arms. The figures have been mounted to show all students holding hands to honor our theme. You can view the artwork before and after the concert. It will be displayed around the gym on concert day.
Thank you to all who donated to our Winter Weather Drive! On behalf of Conner Rosenblatt and our entire MacArthur community, we appreciate your generosity in supporting Waltham families. Your kindness and generosity of spirit is without limit.
Final Call for the Lost and Found: We will be donating all items during winter vacation. Please consider visiting the lost and found after the winter concert to stop by before it’s too late! Note: A new table is being set up to gather lost and found items misplaced this week to ensure those can be returned.
Our winter vacation begins on Friday at 3pm. School will remain closed until Thursday, January 2nd. We wish you and your family a happy and healthy holiday season and a joyous new year!
