Dragon Dinner is this month!
We are excited to host our first annual Dragon Dinner on Wednesday February 21 from 6:00-7:30 PM! The purpose of this event is to come together as a Stony Point family and celebrate the incredible community that defines our school. In addition to strengthening old friendships, we hope this event will help you foster new connections.
This event will start with a pot-luck style dinner, where you are encouraged to bring a dish to share with others. We do not want this to be an added source of stress for your family. Items like casseroles, veggie trays, chicken nugget trays, or store-bought items are welcome! We will have labels for you to indicate which major allergens your food does not contain.
We’ve planned a game your whole family will enjoy during dinner- and the lucky winner will get to be “Principal for the Day!”
After dinner, there will be designated rooms around the school for families to play games like 24, Bananagrams, Pictionary, Scrabble, and other board games.
Currently, we have fewer sign-ups than anticipated and we need your support to make this event run as planned. We hope this will become a Stony Point tradition for years to come and are looking forward to sharing a fun evening with you and your family!

Your Feedback is Needed
It is important for educators to continually examine policies and practices and the impact on student achievement. As we move to the second half of this school year, it is an opportune time to get your feedback. Our administrators are interested in knowing more about each family's interactions with our school. At the same time, we know you are busy, and a lengthy survey or meeting will not get us the information we are seeking.
HERE is a very brief survey to give a snapshot on your current experience. It will not collect your name or email, but offers you a place to leave your info, if you wish. We are really hoping to get a large response rate!
Q & A Session with SPES Administrators
On Wednesday, February 7th, we will offer a 30 minute open session for families. The session will be from 6:00 - 6:30pm in the school library. Child care provided! There will also be a ZOOM option. This will be a fairly informal session to ask questions about school operations or provide ideas on how to make the student experience better at SPES. (This is not a session to talk about specific students, teachers, or families.)

Stony Point Administrators' Advisory Council
SPACE: Stony Point Advisory Council for Engagement
“Ensuring Stony Point is a SPACE for all.”
In order to make sure varied voices are heard regarding school operations and student achievement, we are starting an Administrators' Advisory Council. We will seek stakeholders in the following groups: students, staff members, families, and community members. This group will meet once evening a month for a hour. Meetings will be on Zoom. We hope that the Zoom platform encourages more participation.
Are you potentially interested in being a SPACE member? Sign up HERE to show your interest in the group. Putting your name on this form does not mean you are committing to the group, just showing interest.
Gardening Club Volunteers Needed
In order to have a Spring Gardening Club for students in grades K-2 again this year, we are in need of a few parent volunteers. You would not be responsible for creating activities or content for the club, but rather, supporting students and helping with transitions. If you would be interested in volunteering, please email Paula Gately at pgately@k12albemarle.org. Thank you for considering!
