Wrapping Up 2024 with Gratitude
Can you believe we’re already wrapping up 2024? December is such a special time of year—a season to reflect, celebrate, and recharge for what’s ahead. I just wanted to take a moment to thank you all for the incredible work you’ve done this year and to share a couple of thoughts as we close out the year.
December: A Month of Impact
December is Rotary’s month to focus on Disease Prevention and Treatment, and it’s a reminder of the huge impact we’re making. Whether it’s fighting polio, improving access to clean water, or supporting local health initiatives, every effort you make is helping to save lives. Let’s keep it going!
Cherish What Matters Most
This time of year is also a great reminder of how important it is to spend time with family and friends. Rotary itself is like a big family, and we are so grateful to be part of it with all of you. But don’t forget to take time for your own loved ones, too. Whether it’s sharing a holiday meal, revisiting old traditions, or just catching up, those moments are what really keep us grounded and inspired to do what we do.
Looking Ahead to 2025
Thank you for all you’ve done this year to make a difference. Let’s finish the year strong and look forward to even greater things in 2025. Wishing you all a happy holiday season filled with love, laughter, and maybe even a little bit of rest—you’ve earned it!

Grow Rotary
Membership Growth: Why It Matters
Does your club have a plan to grow its membership? If not, it’s time to start thinking about it! Setting goals and creating a small membership committee (even just a couple of people) can make a huge difference in bringing in new members.
Why is growth so important? Two big reasons:
- Members are aging out. Let’s face it—some members just aren’t as active as they used to be.
- More members = more fun & more impact! Extra hands and hearts mean less work for everyone and bigger, better service projects.
Right now, too many clubs rely on a handful of people to do all the work. Sound familiar? Growing your membership can change that.
The Reality Check
Every year, we lose about 15% of our members across the district. If we’re not focusing on growing, we’ll keep shrinking—and no one wants that.
Here are a few ideas to bring in new members:
- Host a Visitors Day/Night. Show off what your club does!
- Ask your guest speakers if they’d like to join. Who better to partner with your club?
- Start a Satellite Club. A lot of clubs meet at Noon, but that doesn’t work for everyone. A Satellite Club can meet at different times—maybe in the evening or on weekends. Bonus: It can meet just once or twice a month!
So, What’s Your Plan?
The District Membership Committee is here to help. Want some tips? Need fresh ideas? Invite us to chat with your club or board.

Elevating your service projects with Rotary resources
Effective service projects need a solid foundation. A well-planned project that fits the community’s culture and context is more likely to succeed, and conducting a thorough community assessment significantly increases the chance for success. An assessment can help you:
- Understand the community,
- Make informed decisions,
- Build trust and community involvement
Rotary International has recently updated two handbooks Conducting Community Assessments and Rotary Impact Handbook . Both handbooks help in planning projects that prioritize long term positive benefits to the communities we serve.
Taking the time now to make plans using these tools to help conduct a community assessment for your club's Epic Day of Service on Saturday, May 17, 2025, will greatly add to the success of all our community projects.
Foundation Celebration!
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for those who gave to the Foundation this year so far, especially on Giving Tuesday. We believe in the good work we are able to do because of people like you.
Also, a big THANK YOU to those who attended our Foundation Celebration, we had a great time celebrating YOU, the amazing clubs and Rotarians who gave generously to the Foundation. We also celebrated those clubs who gave to ShelterBox.
Please encourage your club and its members to think of the Foundation when they think of where to donate money. The money we raise goes back to our local communities and communities abroad to have a bigger impact. Together we make a difference.
