September Board Meeting Summary
The Citizens of the World - Kansas City Board of Directors met for their monthly meeting on Thursday evening. Here are a few of the highlights:
- Level Field, our partners in exploring real estate and financing options, presented information to update the board on analysis of the current Broadway building and possibilities for building renovations, as well as financial requirements to support these efforts.
- We are in excellent financial shape at this time due to funding, including two large grants that were awarded to us recently. This first of these grants will support additional Conscious Discipline and Restorative Practices training for staff members. The second grant will be supporting a city-wide effort to provide mental health services for many students, as well as a family liaison to help families with logistics.
- The board approved a modification to our staff salaries budget to give leadership some additional flexibility this school year.
- Ms. Holliday-Scott, legal counsel with Guin-Mundorf, representing Citizens and working alongside MCPSA on bond discussions, shared a presentation to educate the board about the potential 2025 bond issue.

Ice Cream Social Thank You
We had a blast at this year’s Ice Cream Social, with over 200 people joining in on the fun! Students, families, and staff came together to enjoy a great evening filled with ice cream and lots of toppings. A big thank you to everyone for their patience while we out for more ice cream, and a special shout-out to families for bringing the delicious toppings and the middle schoolers who helped serve families! We appreciate your support and can’t wait to do it again next year!
Elementary Specials - September Update
We’re thrilled to highlight our incredible specials team and the work they are doing with our elementary students this year! They’ve crafted a fantastic newsletter to keep families updated on what students are learning in music, art, PE, and Spanish. This resource highlights the creativity and skills your children are developing in these enriching subjects. Be sure to check out the September specials newsletter and join us in celebrating the amazing experiences happening in our specials classes!
School Photos - Tuesday, October 8th
School photos are coming soon! Expect an email from Jostens with further details if you haven't received it already. On photo day, students are not required to wear their school uniform, but please avoid wearing green, as it will not work with the green screen technology used for the photos.
Impact MO - Tuesday, October 8th
Impact MO is a community event held at a local YMCA. Families can meet with local agencies to receive resources for housing, utility assistance, employment opportunities, physical and mental health, and more. Registration is required. Please contact Jessie Cox to sign up before October 3rd.
Artsonia Student Art Galleries
Ms. Clark recently sent all families their links to access their students' online art galleries through Artsonia! Here family members can view the art online, maintain a digital art gallery, leave comments, and order keepsakes featuring the artwork (20% of all purchases are donated back to CWC). If you cannot locate this email from Artsonia, feel free to email Ms. Clark directly.
