Second Grade is Soaring!
For the week of October 24th
This week in Second Grade....
Language Arts: This week we continued researching and writing our nonfiction stories. We are doing an incredible job and some of us are close to finishing! We also read Spooky stories and used the app My Story to create a spooky movie or book. Those books can be found on SeeSaw.
In Math: We continued to learn about regrouping. We learned how to add two two digit numbers with regrouping, and also were challenged with 3 and 4 double digit addition. Finally, we learned a problem solving strategy to help us with this skill.
Just a reminder tomorrow is our Halloween Parade. Students can come to school dressed down and bring their costume. We will start changing for the parade around 12. All pictures from the event will come from a separate link over the weekend.
Next week we will continue to work on our nonfiction books and will focus on the election in reading and social studies.!!!

Fun Fact of the Week!
Black and orange are typically associated with Halloween. Orange is a symbol of strength and endurance and, along with brown and gold, stands for the harvest and autumn. Black is typically a symbol of death and darkness and acts as a reminder that Halloween once was a festival that marked the boundaries between life and death.
