Students listen when their peers speak!
On October. 2, 30-plus students gathered in Woodlawn’s library to hear the experiences of our working student apprentices. Our four person panel was comprised of Caleb H., a student who spent the summer working at Phoenix Metals in Dundalk. Jonathan M., a senior who is a registered electrician working with Malestrom Electric. Syed Q., senior who began his apprenticeship with Constellation Energy this summer, and Algore A., a senior who spent the summer working with Hayes Construction.
October 4, 2024, another 25-plus students gathered in the Future Focused Classroom to learn about the beauty industry in our Nails, Lashes and Barbering Workshop. Chanel Green from Green Goals Beauty Academy introduced students to careers in the beauty industry.
Last week, we also started introducing another option for seniors as they prepare for life after high school.
Alex Skidmore from CCBC LEAP provided information about the program and the free training, educational support and employment coaching for young adults.
She will return in January to enroll students.
