From the Principal's Desk
Dear EACS Parent,
It is such an exciting time of year! The fall leaves are almost gone. Just as the first quarter of the academic school year! Along with Parent/Teacher conferences this week, we are looking ahead to what the next quarter holds in store for our students, families, and staff.
Thank you for your support of EACS. I encourage you to get involved in the PTO. Visit the APB meetings. Share some good things that are going on with our students that you see! Let's continue our shared experiences for the second quarter of school and finish this first semester strong!
Just as I warrant your collaboration, our entire staff does also. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask your child(ren)'s teacher. This can be accomplished through a quick remind, email, or phone conversation. We are more than willing to work with you.
Our staff are top notch in this school district! They are excelling in professional development through the District as well in our PLCs. Our students are very lucky to have them. It's not teacher appreciation month yet! But if you see a teacher and have our students do the same, thank them for being a part of our academic paths to success! It'a amazing working with the Eagle staff at our school!

Music Winter Program Rehearsals 6-8 Permission Slip
Parents,
Mrs. Crowther is gearing up for a fantastic winter music program. Please prepare your families to be good audience members.
Music K-5
Your children will learn their parts for the program during their regular music class time.
German students 7-8
Your children will be learning carols in German during German class.
Middle school 6-8
Mrs. Crowther is organizing a middle school choir to practice during lunch. We will meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:40-1:00. If your child is interested, please fill out the form (link above) and turn it in to the office.

Important Classroom Information
Parents,
Please remember that teachers are still required to teach while you visit the classrooms. If you are volunteering, please ensure that you understand your task(s) to complete. If you are picking up work for your child if they are absent due to illness or any other excused reason, please make arrangements with the teacher so that classroom disruption is minimal. Thank you in advance!

- Milk Volunteer Needed! We are looking for a volunteer to help run milk cart at lunch on Thursdays every other two weeks. Counts for volunteer hours! If you are interested, please send an email to v.m.hall@outlook.com.
Trunk or Treat is coming up soon!
Date: Friday, October 27th
Time: 6:00 - 7:30 pm
Location: Community Covenant Church parking lot
Who: All EACS families! Put on your costume and come join us for some Trick or Treat fun!

Details:
- Decorate the trunk/tailgate of your vehicle (check out Pinterest for ideas - can be as elaborate or low key as you want!)
- The PTO can supply candy
- Be at the Community Covenant Church (across the street behind the school) on Friday, 10/27 at 5 pm for setup
- Pass out candy as kids trick or treat around the "trunks"!
- Book Fair! Scholastic Book Fair is back this fall! A full book fair will be taking place, yes - you will be able to purchase at the book fair and take your purchases home that day!

Attendance Matters
Every Day Matters!
A missed school day (whether excused or unexcused) is a lost opportunity for students to learn. Daily attendance makes a huge difference in student academic achievement.
October 3 - October 28 is the official 20 day Oasis count period. Attendance during this period determines our Average Daily Membership (.i.e student enrollment). This is the number the State of Alaska uses to determine our funding. We realize that some absences are unavoidable, however if at all possible, we encourage families to please try not to schedule optional/elective doctors appointments, vacations, or out of state travel during this period.

Temperatures will be starting to drop. We go outside (weather permitting, to 10 degrees below zero) for recess every day. Please, please, please start preparing to send your student(s) to school with appropriate winter outerwear. This means:
- warm coat
- winter hat
- mittens or gloves
- scarves
- snow pants
- boots
- Rain coat
- Rain Boots
It is always a good idea to mark your child’s name on all items. You would be surprised how many pairs of black snow pants we get!
Lost & Found Items
Parents,
If your child is missing any items from their uniforms, please have them stop by the lost and found to retrieve them or feel free to come in and look through the the lost and found bin. Thank you!
