As we continue exploring our annual theme of "Courageous" here at Kingsland School, it is evident that Courage is a vital factor for any achievement or success. In January, Officer Brett Walker, of Burnet County, proposed to the students to resist failure by simply "showing up". Rarely, is "being present" on the list of things Courageous, however, Officer Walker told our students that it is the first step toward facing our fears. Showing up, being present, attending, and dependable sets the stage and opens us up for the opportunities available to us. We often miss opportunities simply because we weren't there to have them. A wise man once said, "Without fear, you will never be afraid". This simple wisdom, however, often escapes us because we are focused on our fears. We will always find what we seek and if we look for excuses, we will find them, if we look for problems, we will find them, on and on and on. We can be so focused on what "could" happen, we miss out on what's "happening". We can't be a part of what's happening if we aren't there at all. Wherever you go, there you are, and we want you at Kingsland School, every morning, all day long, being the best YOU you can be. Showing up is Courageous and it is something we can all do together. You are part of the Laker Family! WE ARE BETTER TOGETHER! So let's SHOW UP!
