Snack Time
Students are encouraged to bring a snack for the mid-morning slump. To support our students during snack time, please follow these guidelines:
- Easy to Eat: Choose snacks that are not messy (avoid yogurt or liquids for K-2)
- Low in Added Sugar: Opt for snacks with minimal added sugars
Suggested Snack Ideas
- Fruits: Apples, bananas
- Vegetables: Carrot sticks, cucumber slices
- Whole Grains: Rice cakes, whole grain crackers & cheese
- Nuts and Seeds: Almonds, walnuts
- Dried Fruits: Raisins or dried apricots (in moderation)
- Fruit and Granola Bars
Lunch Time
Staff is happy to warm lunches in the microwave for your student(s). Please only send food that can be heated in the microwave in microwave-safe containers. Some ramens are okay as we can heat water in the microwave, but some require stovetop cooking. Please do not send that type.
On another note, we are down to very few spoons and forks. We purchase utensils when we have to, but they seem to take on legs and walk away. If you happen to see a fork or spoon that doesn't look familiar, please send it back with your child and ask them to give it to their teacher. This is an expense we don't need to bear. Thanks for your help with this!
Field Trips
If you are interested in joining your student on any field trips this year, you must complete volunteer paperwork here: https://kpbsd.org/departments/assistant-superintendent/instructional-services/hr/volunteer/. The process can take up to 2 weeks so please plan ahead.
Substitutes
Cooper Landing School is in need of substitutes for all positions: teacher, instructional aide, special education aide, secretary, and custodian. If you are interested, please go to the KPBSD website to apply: https://kpbsd.org/departments/assistant-superintendent/instructional-services/hr/substitute-information/ Teacher substitutes need only have a high school diploma or GED. A teaching certificate is not required.

Hope School Happenings
You make a difference. It is hard to believe that we are approaching 2025 so quickly. As we look back over the last few months, we see so many positive things. We all wanted to extend our gratitude to the parents and families for all of the amazing things each of you do to support our students and staff. Working together as a successful and supportive team makes all of the difference in the world. We live in a small community but one with a strong dedication to our students. So, from all of us at the Hope School, we see the kindness and support and we appreciate you all for it.
Food Bank Delivery slated for November! Barb Bureau will let our community know when the delivery will officially happen. The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank has generously stated those who would like to sign up for a Thanksgiving turkey could do so. Barb has posted her number and placed the sign-up sheet in the post office. It looks as if this will be a success once again. We all appreciate the KPFB and what they do for our community. We also appreciate all of the volunteers who give their time and energy to setting it up and breaking it down afterward. What an amazing gift for all of us.
