Principal's Message
Dear God,
We are grateful for the blessings of our school community.
We thank You for the friendships we share, the knowledge we gain,
and the opportunities to grow in wisdom and character.
We ask for Your presence to be felt
in our classrooms, hallways, and hearts.
Guide our teachers with patience and insight,
our students with curiosity and diligence,
and our staff with dedication and care.
May we all work together in harmony,
supporting and uplifting one another.
Bless our First Communion candidates
as they prepare for their celebration on Sunday!
Amen
First Communion
This Sunday marks a very special occasion for our Year 4 students as they celebrate their First Communion. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to each of them and their families on this significant milestone in their spiritual journey.
As you prepare for this sacred event, know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. May this day be filled with joy, peace, and a deep sense of God’s presence. We are proud of your commitment and faith, and we look forward to supporting you as you continue to grow in your relationship with God.
Wishing you all the best on your First Communion!
Bunnings Cannington Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser
We need your help to make our Bunnings Sausage sizzle a success! This event is a fantastic opportunity to raise funds for our school, and we are calling on our wonderful community to lend a hand.
Date: Sunday 3rd November
Location: Bunnings, 27 Liege St Cannington
Time: One hour slots available between 8am - 4pm
We are looking for volunteers to sign up for just one hour of their time. Whether you can help with cooking or serving, your contribution will make a big difference. It’s also a great way to meet other parents and be part of a fun and rewarding experience.
To sign up, please use the QR code on the flyer that went home to every family today, or contact the school office. Every hour counts, and we appreciate any time you can give.
School Photos
We’d like to remind you that school photos will be taken next Wednesday, 23 October. It’s time for our students to get their hairstyles in order and ensure their uniforms are looking sharp!
On this day, all students are required to wear their correct summer uniform. Please note that sport uniforms are not to be worn. Information regarding photo orders was distributed at the end of last term. If you have any questions or need additional details, please reach out to the school office.
Thank you for your attention, and we look forward to capturing these special moments!
School Advisory Council and FOSJ Committee 2025
As mentioned in the last newsletter, we are looking for new members to join our School Advisory Council and Friends of St Jude’s Committee (FOSJ) for 2025. These committees are vital in ensuring that the parent voice is heard within our school community.
Today, we have sent home nomination forms to every family. These forms provide details about the responsibilities and commitments associated with each committee. We encourage you to review this information and consider becoming a part of these important teams in 2025.
Your involvement can make a significant impact on our school community. Thank you for your consideration and ongoing support.

CEWA Child Safe Framework
Have you heard of the CEWA Child Safe Framework?
Last term we looked at the 3 key concepts that underpin the CEWA Child Safe Framework and the nine elements that combined, help us to make decisions surrounding child safety in the school.
In the coming weeks, we will continue to unpack one of these nine elements each week and how St Jude's ensures that each element is being addressed.
This week's focus is:
Investigating and Reporting
The development and implementation of processes that are transparent, fair and clearly understood by the school community.
- What does this look like?
- Our school’s complaint system is clear, child friendly and students feel comfortable to use it.
- Our school takes all complaints and concerns made by students seriously.
- At St Jude's we have a:
- Child & Parents Complaints Procedures (available on our school website)
- Child & Parent Complaints Poster on display in every class and around the school
- Complaints Register
- Incident Report and Investigation Form
- Code of Conduct breach form (available on our school website)
- Pastoral Care Record for each child on SEQTA
- Bullying Incident Form
- Hierarchy outlining the different levels for lodging a concern or complaint: Teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, CEWA
The role of the Director General
The Director General of the Department of Education is responsible for ensuring that the school observes the registration standards, including the standard about its complaints handling system. Any student, parent or community member is entitled to contact the Director General with concerns about how the school has dealt with a complaint. Information is available on the Department of Education website. While the Director General may consider whether the school has breached the registration standards, the Director General does not have power to intervene in a complaint or override the school’s decision.
Have a great weekend!

Dates to Remember
Sacrament of Eucharist (First Communion)
- Sunday 20 October 9:00 am
Eucharist Retreat
This week our Year 4 students joined together with students from our school and after school programme to learn more about and reflect on the Sacrament of Eucharist. During the day, students revisited the story of the Last Supper through a continuous story telling before completing an assortment of activities from making special Eucharist themed candles to making a monstrance and stained glass chalices. The students also made bite size pieces of bread which was later used in a reenactment of the Last Supper. It was a wonderful day to come together to reflect on this special Sacrament.
First Holy Communion
This Sunday is our First Holy Communion and we look forward to joining together with our friends, family, staff, school choir and the Parish community to celebrate this special Sacrament. Please keep our students in your prayers as they prepare to receive Jesus for the first time.
St Jude's Feast Day
Our St Jude's Feast Day is just around the corner and will take place on Monday 28 October. Like previous years, our day will begin with a whole school Mass at 9:00 am which will be followed with our Mission Markets and St Jude's Got Talent. We look forward to celebrating this day as a parish and school community.
