Message from Principal Wadkins
I hope everyone enjoyed spring break. As we return to school, we are in the final push of the second semester. Friday is a grading day for teachers as they prepare the third quarter grades and then the next Monday, April 7 is a planning day for teachers to prepare for the final quarter. This spring will also mark milestones for seniors as they prepare to graduate. Tomorrow, April 1 is the beginning of the 60 day rule for seniors. In a senior meeting before spring break, they were informed of the rule that states that they be excluded from the graduation ceremony if they have a serious disciplinary incident as defined by the PPS Student Rights and Responsibility Handbook. If you have any questions regarding this rule, please reach out to me or any one of the vice principals, Sean Murray or Danielle Cota.
As you have heard earlier in the year, PPS faces a budget shortfall for the next school year of $40 million which will impact staffing in the district. Cleveland is maintaining its current enrollment of approximately 1400 students, and we will be maintaining our staff numbers for next year. I am grateful for the work our staff does to support our students and am happy to keep our staff numbers where they are.
