Dr. Hudson's Weekly Family Message
January 27, 2025

Cedar HIll ISD Families & Community,
Since the inauguration of the 47th president, several executive orders and policy changes have been introduced, some of which have received significant media attention for their impact on immigration policies across the United States. One recent executive order, in particular, removes schools from the “sensitive location” designation, raising questions about how school districts should respond to potential immigration enforcement activities by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), or other law enforcement agencies.
Although our school district remains a place where every child and family is valued, respected, and cared for, we understand that these changes may bring feelings of anxiety, concern, and fear for many of our families, students, and staff. Please know that we are aware of these challenges and are committed to supporting you through this uncertain time.
Our goal is to ensure every Longhorn feels informed and confident in our shared commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all.
- Every CHISD campus is staffed with a member of the CHISD Police Department at all times.
- Anyone, including law enforcement officials, must follow established campus entry procedures to gain access to the building. Additionally, any law enforcement official seeking to access or question students or staff on campus must adhere to district protocols. This includes providing proper identification to verify their identity and confirming the legal authority for their request.
Our district’s Counseling Services team are fully prepared to provide resources and support to help our scholars and families navigate feelings of anxiety or other emotions they may be experiencing during this time. Feel free to contact your child’s school counselor for support.
Please know that Cedar Hill ISD is committed to ensuring the well-being of every student, regardless of their immigration status. Together, we remain dedicated to developing resilient scholars who are empowered to serve.
