A Note from the Office
Greene Families
Hopefully your family was able to enjoy some time together this week! Today, I know our family needs to finish leftovers, find bookbags and get to bed at a regular time...you may be in the same spot! As you are organizing, if you are able to throw a toy or gift card into your student's bag for the OGB Toy Drive (see below) it goes towards a good cause AND there is a prize for the winning team!
We have a quick sprint to Winter Break, so a couple of reminders for this week:
- Make sure they are dressed appropriately for the weather and recess. We will be outside if there is no rain or snow accumulation as long as weather is above 20 degress (factoring in wind chill)
- Coming back tomorrow it is important to remember good academic habits: Be prepared with your materials, be ready to ask questions, allow for a productive learning environment and above all try your best!
- Same thing in the hallways, lunch and recess: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be a Problem Solver. If you could review these it will help us ensure students are able to Connect, Grow and be Empowered.
- We have a number of events that will create changes in the schedule, including MAP testing, CogAT, Erin's Law, concerts and end of the quarter parties. Check the newsletters and Facebook for schedules and information!
Enjoy your Sunday...and Who Dey!

Operation Give Back Toy Drive
E.H. Greene families, we need your help to stock the Operation Give Back Holiday store! Black Friday is right around the corner and it is the perfect time to do a little shopping.
Students can place gift cards and toys in their designated boxes in the front lobby between now and DECEMBER 6. The team that collects the most toys and gift cards matching the color of their pod will win a holiday board game and pajama party.
Thank you so much for your generosity!
December Coffee Talk
The December Coffee Talk on December 12th @ 1:30pm will follow up on the Core Values: Connect, Grow, Empower. At our last meeting we generated ideas on general projects that we could start in order to ensure that Greene lives up to our Core Values. On that list were ways to connect students/families BEFORE the school year started, ways to authentically engage in the curriculum and opportunties for more families to engage in the school.
Use the RSVP below!

Erin’s Law
Sycamore Families,
Senate Bill 288, also known as Erin’s Law, mandates annual health education curriculum requirements focused on child sexual abuse, dating violence, and sexual violence prevention. Erin’s Law also allows parents to opt their child out of this learning.
Under the law implemented last school year, all schools must provide annual state-approved, developmentally appropriate instruction on child sexual abuse prevention to students Grades K-6. This instruction aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for their safety and protection.
Sycamore has partnered with Family Services to deliver this instruction to students. You can find a complete review of the K-6 programming, including videos that will be shown, by clicking here. If you have questions about the curriculum you can contact Michael Maresca at mmaresca@fsadayton.org or 937-222-9481. Family Services also provides additional services not included in the curriculum that can be found here.
We recognize that every family is unique, and the educational needs of each student may vary. As a result, the law allows for parents and legal guardians to request that their child be excused from child sexual abuse prevention instruction. If you wish to opt out your child, please complete this opt-out form.
If you have concerns about these requirements, we encourage you to reach out to your local representative and senator to express your concerns directly. Thank you for your understanding, and for working together to ensure the safety and well-being of our students.
