A Message from Principal Cutone
September 20, 2024
Dear HES Caregivers,
What a “fin”tastic week we had at HES! Our K-4 Sharks kicked off the week with our very first All Shark Meeting on Monday. Ms. Santiago’s fourth-grade class led us in our School Song, and Dr. Cutone shared the delightful story “The Cool Bean” by Jory John and Pete Oswald. This story beautifully illustrates that kindness and inclusivity are what truly make someone “cool.”
We also celebrated the amazing progress in our classrooms, where teachers are filling fish bowls with pom poms to recognize respectful, responsible, safe, and ready-to-learn behaviors. Each class has already earned at least one fishbowl, and we love celebrating these achievements with school-wide events, like today’s “Sports Team Spirit Day.”
Curriculum Nights Reminder: We are excited to invite you to our upcoming Curriculum Nights! Mark your calendars:

Warm regards,
Christie
Important Transportation Note
While we encourage students to connect outside of school, it is not possible for students to ride home on the bus with a classmate if they are not assigned to that bus. Students may not ride on buses other than their assigned bus. If there are changes to the transportation plan, such as parent pickup instead of the bus, please share that information via PickupPatrol. However, requests for a student to ride on a bus that is not their assigned route cannot be accommodated. If you need your student to be added to a route permanently, please fill out the form here: https://www.monomoy.edu/our-district/bus-routes/bus-request-change-form. Contact Transportation Coordinator Faith Rushank at frushnak@monomoy.edu with any further questions. Thank you!
Notes from the Nurses
Happy Friday. We are busy here at school. Thank you to all who have gotten medications and documentation into us. It is greatly appreciated. If you have not quite completed this, please try to do so next week.
Polished Dental will be here on October 7 & 8. If you want your child seen by the dental team please make sure that the form is returned ASAP. If you need another copy, please let me know. Anyone who signs up this fall will be seen in October and again in March/April .
Each year we need to have the Health History Form and parental consent for over the counter medications updated . It is part of the documentation that you were asked to complete for each of your students’ registration in Aspen. If you did not complete these sections, please revisit your student’s registration in ASPEN and fill them out this weekend.
Thank you,
Janie and Julianna

Adopt a Playground Tree
Our playground trees are looking robust and beautiful due to the folks who helped water this past summer. We now need help with weeding the trees. Please help by “adopting” a tree for the school year. Click the link below to sign up and we’ll contact you about your tree's location. Thank you!
