CARDINALS ON THE MOVE
On October 2, more than 300 Henry Elementary School and Clinton Intermediate School students, school staff, and volunteers participated in Walk to School Day. Students not only got some early morning exercise, but with the help of adults learned how to safely use crosswalks, sidewalks and navigate traffic.
Thanks to Coach Johannsen for organizing this yearly event. Thank you also to school staff, Clinton High School students, Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare, Hawthorn Bank, Pediatric Place, Clinton Police Department, and parents who helped students safely walk to school. Thank you as well to Equity Bank for allowing parents to utilize the parking lot for drop-off.
And we can't forget about our amazing school crossing guards who were kept very busy!

CARDINAL COMPLIMENTS
Who doesn't love a compliment (and a snack)?
Congratulations to the CSD employees who received a Cardinal Compliment during the month of September. They were surprised in their classroom/office by the Cardinal Compliment Crew (Superintendent, Mr. Dan Brungardt and Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Christian Meier) with a certificate and a snack of their choosing!
The Cardinal Compliment program is a way for you to express gratitude to any Clinton School District employee who goes above and beyond what is expected. Whether you're a parent impressed with that special touch your child's teacher added to a moment, a coworker who thinks their colleague doesn't hear often enough about the great job they are doing, or a community member who witnesses a staff member’s commitment to kids - you can send a Cardinal Compliment!

A VISIT FROM A QUEEN
Ashley Berry, our very own CHS alum AND current Miss Missouri, recently stopped by Henry Elementary to visit with first graders about staying safe online.
Students became “digital detectives”, learning how to spot things that are not true or that might be hurtful to people. Students also received a digital citizen certificate and a picture of Miss Missouri.
Thanks Ashley for taking time to visit our little Cardinals!

LEADING THE WAY, ONE SLICE AT A TIME
It's never too early to work on those leadership skills!
For the 3rd year in a row, kindergarten-2nd grade students are learning all about leadership through the Leader in Me Program. Walking into any classroom, you will hear the same language being used; be proactive, begin with the end in mind, put first things first, etc. The Leader in Me model is helping even the youngest students learn essential life skills such as taking initiative, planning ahead, setting goals, and solving problems.
Earlier this month, students who did a great job of practicing Habit #1-BE PROACTIVE, were celebrated with a pizza party! Thank you to Henry Elementary's Bright Futures building partner, Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare, for providing this tasty treat !

CULTIVATING THE FUTURE
On Friday, October 4th, Clinton High School FFA students provided a great opportunity for CIS 3rd graders and other area students.
In their "Food for America" program, FFA students taught elementary students that their food doesn't just come from the grocery store shelf. Students learned about the importance of the agriculture industry and how all of us depend on farmers.
There were many hands-on activities led by FFA students and many students even brought their own livestock to share with students.
