https://docs.google.com/document/d/1IvE0bNvhgmMmQziKTaQGVsDOphTExX_k7ojAGfuareY/edit?usp=sharing
It is unfortunate that vandalism is occurring in the 3rd floor boys and girls bathrooms. Walls are being written on with markers, soap and towel dispensers are being broken off the wall and a pipe was busted on the boys urinal flooding that bathroom. This is being investigated and parents of students involved will be notified.
Students in all grades are consistently reminded to wear Solid color pants and shirts. No writing or images, Solid hoodies can be worn in the classroom, hoodies with writing or images must be kept in their lockers. Belly shirts, spaghetti straps, boys pants below the waist are not allowed. Below is the Code taken straight from the handbook.

PARENTS WILL BE CALLED TO BRING STUDENT A CHANGE OF CLOTHING IF DRESS CODE IS VIOLATED.
Parents, during our SEL lessons, we are teaching the children about rules, respect and empathy. We really need your help. Please talk to your child about the importance of following the dress code, behaving appropriately, cell phone policy and damaging school property. We are a team and we all need to work together in order to be on the same page.
In our lessons, we talk about what happens if you break a rule in the community, and how there are consequences for those actions. The same applies to the dress code, damaging property and behaving inappropriately. If rules are broken, and/or not followed, consequences will be issued.
We are entering our 4th week of school, everyone knows these expectations.
Thank you to all who comply and/or come to school to bring the change of clothes.
If for any reason, you have difficulty with complying to the dress code, please call me so we can address and solve your concern together.
Huge Shout outs to all families for arriving at school on time. Remember if your child needs to leave early, you must send a note or call the school by 1:00, so we can get a message to your child’s teacher. We can not call classrooms for early dismissals. The phone calls truly interrupt the learning for all students.
Dates to Remember-
Monday- Sept. 19- SPMT 3:15 in Design Lab
Wed.- Sept. 21- Open House and PTO meeting- 4:30-7:00
If you have any questions or concerns please call the office so we can assist you.
I would like everyone to enjoy the rest of the evening and looking forward to seeing all of you tomorrow.

Calling all 8th graders!
My name is Maddie Ardito and I write to you today wearing my favorite hat at the Eli Whitney Museum & Workshop, coordinating our Apprentice Program. If we have met, hello again!
The Apprentice Program is a paid educational program for students in 8th grade who are 13 years and up.
Apprentices come to us with a wide range of interest in areas of focus, career opportunities, and academic paths. They learn how to research, design, and produce projects ranging from electronics, to video game design, engineering architectural feats, bringing to life ancient cultures, and much much more- then then learn how to teach those projects to younger students.
Apprentices work alongside the museum staff and guest artists and educators to explore their interests and to be trained on tools and techniques to make those interests come to fruition. They also gain invaluable life skills by being urged to communicate openly, problem solve, and collaborate with others through a variety of challenges. Our team is dedicated to mutual growth with our apprentices- they learn from us and we learn from THEM!
We will be opening another round of applications for our Fall 2022 cohort after a Mandatory Zoom Informational Session on September 18 from 4-5PM for applicants and their families.
Prospective applicants can sign up for this zoom session HERE.
- Please note: Student emails often get bounced back because of security restrictions, students should use their personal emails to sign up for this info session.
Please forward this email directly to students, families, and other educators- we are dedicated to apprentice representation from all surrounding towns!
I am here to answer any question folks may have- ma@eliwhitney.org or 203-777-1833 ask for Maddie!
