I am married and have a child (Coker) in 7th grade at Ridgeview Middle School! We have a tiny, 8 pound maltipoo (Thumper), who serves as a wonderful, constant "security alarm." LOL! We live in the neighborhood, and love being a part of the HFE and Sandy Springs Community! My favorite place to visit, will always be the beach, but spending time with my family and friends is best, no matter the location!

Through our International Inquirer program, each homeroom has a country of study for the entire year, and it concludes with a Grand Bazaar in our media center that provides immersive experiences focused on 5 countries!

Each week Super Y flies to different countries around the world, sending clues back to the students to see if they can guess where she was! Of course, along the way, she is saving lives wherever she goes!

In the final year of the PYP journey, students participate in an extended, in-depth collaborative project known as the PYP Exhibition. This involves students working collaboratively to conduct an in-depth inquiry into real-world issues or problems. Students collectively synthesize all of the essential elements of the PYP in ways that can be shared with the whole school community. It also provides teachers with a powerful and authentic process for assessing student understanding. The exhibition represents a unique and significant opportunity for students to demonstrate the attributes of the IB learner profile developed throughout their engagement with the PYP. It also provides schools and students with a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the transition of learners to the next phase of their education.

Cookies for Character is ALL about the IB Learner Profile! Each month we focus on one of the 10 attributes that we believe fosters our students to be LIFELONG Learners! Communicator, Risk-taker, Open-minded, Caring, Inquirer/Thinker, Balanced, Knowledgeable, Principled, and Reflective are the 10 attributes we celebrate each month by recognizing a student from each class who has shown that particular trait for that month!

Our 6 Transdisciplinary Themes connect all our content areas and therefore provide greater meaning to our learning!

The key concepts should be shown through the use of key questions that guide student inquiry.

The key concepts include:

• Form – What is it like?

• Function – How does it work?

• Causation – Why is it like it is?

• Change – How is it changing?

• Connection – How is it connected to other things?

• Perspective – What are the points of view?

• Responsibility – What is our responsibility?

• Reflection – How do we know?

To strengthen conceptual understandings of the standards taught, the IB Approaches to Learning help the students develop the appropriate skillset for diving deeper into their topics of study.

Our students lead the charge in 4 community service projects annually!
