LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL ABOUT ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL
Dear Families,
We have reached the end of the first week of school. It is a pleasure having your students and their youthful energy and enthusiasm back in the building. Everyone is adjusting to being back in school early each day and the many new routines and expectations that are in place.
One of the big changes this year involves our drop off and pick up system. We no longer have family drop offs and pick ups in the back of the building. Those who ride the bus come in and out the back bus entrance on Calvary Street and all others funnel in and out the front entrance on Bellows Street. The primary purpose of this change is for student safety.
Here is some key information that might be helpful for you to know about departure:
Our Dismissal Calls to classrooms are staggered.
Remember that on Wednesdays we release an hour earlier than on M, T, Th, F.
PK-K: 2:25/1:25 (early release)
1-3: 2:30/1:30
4-8/Chorus/Band: 2:35/1:35
As expected, the first few days of arrival and departure had some wrinkles. Our staff is working on improving wait times at departure. Glitches are being worked on each day. To further optimize arrival and departure we need your help. Here are our requests specific to you:
For the morning:
Please do not try to have a conversation with your student's teacher. They are there to gather or disperse the students as rapidly as possible.
Please make the drop off/pick up process move rapidly by staying with your car, and if possible not getting out of your car.
If you are getting out of your car for any reason please park in the family parking and walk your students across.
Please pull up as far as you can and not stop before the crosswalk.
In the afternoon:
Please know your student's grade level
We will continue to break up the lines based on grade level as we figure out how many vehicles each section needs, so please be patient.
Thank you for helping to speed up our transport system.
Dr. Stephanie Gagnon

PICTURES
Pictures will be scarce at the beginning of the school year
We are sorting out who has media permission in each classroom. When students enroll at St. Albans City School, families grant or deny permission for students to be photographed or named on our media. If your student does not appear in the announcements at some point this year, it may be because your family checked no for media permission. If an update in media permission status is needed, you should contact Mr. Mitch Craib mcraib@maplerun.org
