WPC WEEKLY NEWS 11-20-24
POINTS FROM THE PRINCIPAL
- Read to your child: I recognize that all families are busy and, especially during the week, between daily routines, work, after-school activities, and life in general, it's easy to push this off--but reading to and with your child has vast benefits! A child who is read to daily may know thousands (up to 4,000!) more words than children who were not read to daily. Daily reading increases students' language acquisition and understanding, increases attention, emotional and cognitive development, as well as builds a love of reading.
- Day of Giving: A huge thank you for all of the donations that have been brought to school, as we prepare for our annual, "Day of Giving." We are still accepting donations!
- Please read Ms. Burnett's Lunch Bunch letter in her section below.
- Just a reminder that next week is a short week, so there will not be a Weekly News. Stay tuned for our next edition on December 4th!
- Next Wednesday, November 27th, will be a Single Session Day for all students! Please plan ahead to ensure students are picked up on time.
- Ms. Dorsey's AM Pre-K: 9:00am-10:40am
- Ms. Dorsey's PM Pre-K: 10:45am-12:25pm
- Ms. Chambers, Miss Kisker, Miss Nassaney, Mr. Wilson, Ms. McKenna, Ms. Digricoli, Miss Klaif: 8:30am-12:00pm
- Mr. Dan, Miss Erin's, and Miss Aleo's Classes: 9:00-12:25pm

AROUND THE CLASSROOMS
- I observed...

- using their letter-sound knowledge to write CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant words)
- practicing their number formations
- using numbers to represent groups of objects
- exploring temperature
- Miss Nassaney's Class: Students in Miss Nassaney's class have an attitude of gratitude! With Thanksgiving approaching and gratitude on our minds, students are learning about what it means to be thankful. They are making a list of things, people, places, etc. they are grateful for, trying to get to 100! So far they are at 17! See picture below.
- Miss Kisker's Class: Students have been working on adding labels to their writing. They practiced by labeling different things around the classroom. Students are working hard to write each sound they hear in a word.
- Mr. Dan's Class: This week, students continued their Thanksgiving theme by making turkey hats.
