Spirit Week 12/11-12/15
Swimming is Back!
Students in Grades Pre-K through 3rd Grade will have six swimming lessons this school year. Please note students will be taught by certified YMCA swim instructors. Additional YMCA staff will be in the water and on the pool deck supervising swimmers. Lifeguards are supervising each session. Please read more information about the swim program in the handout, “Safety Around Water Curriculum.”

immunizations
Your child should be up to date by the first day of school on immunizations.
Preschool: 4 year old boosters required if student will be 4 on 9/1.
Kindergarten: 4 year old boosters required.
Age 9: While not required, HPV vaccination is now recommended for children starting at age 9.
Schedule an appointment with your medical provider or Jefferson County Public Health (immunization clinics Tuesdays 1-4pm, 360-385-9400) over the summer!

29th Annual Gingerbread Contest
29th Annual Uptown Gingerbread Contest
Thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Port Townsend Library and PT Mainstreet.
Prizes are awarded in five categories:
- Children 12 & under
- Most Creative
- Most Literary
- People’s Choice
- Housing for All
Gingerbread kits available: November 20 - November 30
Voting takes place: December 11 - December 18
Winners will be announced: December 22
Entries must be picked up by January 2nd.
Please provide your project with a family friendly name and contact details below. Your “house” footprint (size) should be limited to 18”x18”. There is no height limit.
All “houses” must be made from entirely edible pieces. Feel free to use real gingerbread or graham crackers.
Entries will be accepted from December 1st - 10th, 2023. Judging will take place December 11th - 19th, 2023 by Sally Robbins. Please drop off your Gingerbread House to the Port Townsend Library during library hours at 1220 Lawrence Street.
Winners will be announced Dec. 22nd, 2023. Call the library at 385-3181 with questions.
First Night 2023
The Production Alliance presents an all-ages New Year's Eve extravaganza featuring live music, circus shows, interactive art experiences, lantern making and parade, live music, heritage and history exhibits, food, fireworks and more!
EVENT SCHEDULE:

3PM - 8PM - Food vendors, lantern making, face painting, fire pits and family fun!
6PM - AVE - Rapper, singer, song writer, and multi-instrumentalist
7PM - Lantern Parade with the Unexpected Brass Band

8:00 - Fireworks
