China Middle School hosted a free car wash this week for first responders and veterans in honor of the 23rd anniversary of 9/11. The support from the community, students, and parents was tremendous! We washed 39 vehicles in less than 6 hours including several police cruisers, fire trucks, a corvette, lots of pick-up trucks, cars, a state trooper vehicle, and a jeep for a K-9 unit. The weather was perfect, and the donations from parents of supplies and baked goods for our guests was outstanding. The kids were incredibly respectful and thanked each of our guests for their service, gave them a personalized homemade thank you card, and made sure they received a refreshment while they waited. The students had a blast and our first responders and vets could not have been more grateful.

CMS will be holding a flu clinic on September 24th. Permission paperwork was included in the Back-to-School packets. Please have paperwork turned in no later then the end of the day Monday, September 16th. If you need the permission paperwork, please reach out to our office at 445-1500 or email tstrout@rsu18.org as soon as possible.

We are starting $1.00 Hat Days on Friday's for staff and students that would like to wear hats! This will start on Friday, September 20th.

We are aware that the blinking school zone lights are not working properly. We are currently working to get them fixed. Remember to maintain 15mph during morning arrival and dismissal times. Officer Lefferts and our local officers are assisting with monitoring motorist speeds to the best of their ability.

Welcome back to another exciting year at RSU 18! Our talented Nutrition staff strive to prepare healthy, nourishing meals for our district’s students and staff each day. Watch the menus for new entrées this year. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Start your day the right way with a healthy breakfast.

I am pleased to announce the district will be receiving federal funds from USDA to operate a Fresh Fruit and Vegetable program in seven of our schools! The program is to increase the availability of free healthy snacks to the students each day. Atwood, Williams, China Primary, and China Middle School will continue their programs from last year and begin serving snacks on September 17th.

Welcome back from the China Schools PTO! The 2024-25 school year is sure to be fun with events like the Glow Dance and a Read-a-thon, and other cool fundraisers and activities, too. Make sure to keep checking in for opportunities to join in! All of our events are made possible by awesome volunteers! Thank you!! And all the fundraising supports our students and staff to ensure we have field trips, classroom tools and supplies, and enrichment opportunities for PreK-8th grade!
