OCTOBER COUNT 2024
It’s official – October Count Day this year is Tuesday, October 1.
The most important action you can take to support school funding is to make sure your student attends school on that day. Much of public education funding from the State of Colorado is based on student count, so we encourage you to make sure your student comes to school that day.
The “count window” the state observes is from Tuesday, September 24 through Tuesday, October 8, but the most important student count day is Tuesday, October 1. Help us get an accurate count by having your student participate in learning that day.
If your student will be absent on Tuesday, October 1 due to illness, please call our attendance line, [303-982-1580] to report the absence. Attendance during the “count window” will help counteract an absence on Tuesday, October 1.
Thank you for your support of Everitt Middle School. Every student counts!

Apply Now: Student Benefits Application for 2024-2025
Thanks to Healthy School Meals for All (HSMA), the district will continue to provide all students with one breakfast and one lunch daily at no cost through the 2024-25 school year, regardless of income eligibility.
.
Though meals are free for all Jeffco students, families are still encouraged to visit SchoolCafé and complete a Student Benefits Application. While this application does not determine your student’s access to meals under the HSMA program, it may help their school secure additional state or federal funding. Additionally, your student(s) may be eligible for other benefits, such as school-related fees or testing fees (Outdoor Lab fees, field trips, class fees, transportation, district fees), based on information provided on the application.
Student Benefits Applications are now available on SchoolCafé for the 2024-25 school year. If you need a paper application, please contact Jeffco’s Free & Reduced Lunch Specialist, Lorena Gomez-Vazquez, at 303-982-6916 with additional questions. Visit the Free & Reduced Meals webpage to learn more.
Thank you for your support in nourishing our learners: our future. We look forward to serving your student(s) healthy and delicious meals this school year.

Book Study Opportunity
I would love to have as many families (and students, staff members, and community members) as want to join me for a book study on the book 10-25:The Science of Motivating Young People by David Yeager. The book is about how to help young people between the ages of 10 and 25 to feel inspired, enthusiastic, and ready to contribute rather than discouraged, outraged or overwhelmed. I am loving the book so far and I think you will too. It is equally powerful for parents, educators, mentors, coaches, and managers. We are going to be meeting on Wednesday evenings at 5:00 starting next week. Purchase the book, read chapter 3, and join us!
David Yeager, author of 10 to 25: The Science of Motivating Young People - Raising Good Humans Podcast (starting at about minute 30 gets you to the section where he is more focused on application in education).
Some High Quality Student Work from the Week
This Venus poem is from Adele V and Adleigh E:
"Venus is the second planet from the sun
its 1.1x smaller than earth which is fun
if nickel is earth then penny is Venus
it cant support life according to the nasa genius
no moons no rings Venus was formed in a fling
in a cloud of gas ice and dust
its formation is a must
sunrise to the west sunset to the east Venus is a beast"

Panorama Social Emotional Learning Student Survey (Grades 6-8)
Family Notification Letter
2024-25 School Year
Dear Families:
Panorama Education is a company who conducts student and family surveys in schools and districts across the country. Everitt Middle School will be giving students the Panorama Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Student Survey 2-3 times per year.
Content. The Panorama student survey gathers information on the following areas/competencies of social emotional skills:
Self-Awareness
Self-Management
Social Awareness
Relationship Skills
Responsible Decision-Making
You may review the survey questions by visiting this link. For more information on the SEL competencies visit this link.
The results are compiled into both individual and group summaries of social emotional skill progress. These reports are used by district leaders and school staff to guide our development of school-wide, small group, and/or individual social emotional support. You will be notified if your child is invited to join a small group or individual intervention.
It is Voluntary. Your child does not have to take the student survey.
It is Confidential. No students will be identified in any public reports or publications. Individual student information (name, student number, school and grade) will be uploaded into the Panorama system, as with other Panorama surveys. Individual student data may be shared with school staff to provide instructional and social emotional support.
Timing: The survey will be administered in the fall, winter, and optionally in the spring. It will take about 10 minutes.
Opt Out: If you do not want your child to participate in the survey, you may contact Caroline Curtiss, Social Emotional Learning Specialist at Caroline.Curtiss@jeffco.k12.co.us by September 20, 2024.

WAYS TO HELP RAISE FUNDS FOR EVERITT PTA:
- Does your employer provide matching funds or are they looking for a community non-profit to donate to?
Everitt PTA is a 501c3 non-profit and would be happy to talk to your employer or help with any paperwork needed. While we focus on community building and not fundraising, additional funds could be put to good use helping to outfit more classrooms with the SmartBoard technology your kids have used in some, and all rooms can make great use of them!
- Have you linked your King Soopers Community Rewards yet?
Help raise funds for Everitt just by doing your grocery shopping! Everitt PTA is enrolled in the King Soopers Community Rewards Program. This is a great way to support the school without spending additional money, all you have to do is enroll and King Soopers will give back to Everitt!🍎🥦🌽🥕
• Go to www.kingsoopers.com
Once logged into your King Soopers or City Market account go to My account ~ Community Rewards ~ search for Everitt Middle School PTA either by name or FT620 and then click Enroll. New users will need to create an account which requires some basic information, a valid email address and a loyalty card.
RENEW YOUR EVERITT PTA MEMBERSHIP:
Make your fall to-do list shorter by signing up now for your 2024-2025 PTA Membership. Dues are just $15 and allow us to be part of the state and national PTA networks and have seed money for our PTA projects. Even if you cannot make the PTA meetings regularly, becoming a PTA member is an excellent way to support our school community! To join, complete this form: https://forms.gle/MKp3Fokrn7zSioBY7 and Venmo $15 to @Everitt-Middle.
