Fletcher Morgan Jr. Elementary
Parent Weekly Newsletter Friday, March 12, 2021
Hello Morgan Elementary parents and community.
I can hardly believe we are heading into Spring Break! I hope you all have something fun planned for the week off.
This was my last week serving as the principal for both Velasquez and Morgan Elementary. The moments spent saying goodbye to teachers, staff, parents, and students at Velasquez were bittersweet. I am also eager to meet my new Morgan students and parents, and I am beyond excited about building our team at Morgan.
The plans for Morgan are coming along, and the excitement is building as this school year comes to a close, and I work on all the elements of opening a brand new school! I am enjoying working with many different departments in our school district during this process. Many of the processes such as the school logo and color selection, dress code determination process, staff selection, uploading student address/enrollment in our student management system takes a little time to happen and involve multiple district staff members. As stated previously, my goal is to be transparent, keep everyone informed, and keep everyone connected to the journey. Additionally, I want to ensure that everyone will have timely communication to help you and your child prepare for this new school experience.
Coming your way soon:
- School colors and mascot voting
- Dress code information
- Virtual Morgan Parent/Student Meeting with the Principal
Enjoy your Spring Break!
Respectfully,
Brian Gibson, Principal
Fletcher Morgan Jr. Elementary
Last Day at Velasquez Elementary..."It's not goodbye, it's see you later."
Thank You Friends of Huggins
"MARK YOUR CALENDAR!!
Together we are experiencing unique times. Even though we are not able to physically be together for our annual gala tradition, we want to connect and engage with you in a fun and entertaining way.
This year we are rolling out a new gala format on May 14th where you can “Fiesta Your Way”. Depending on personal comfort levels, guests can tune in alone from the comfort of their own home or choose to invite their crew and celebrate together. Gather around the computer, Smart TV or other devices and join us for an evening of entertainment hosted by Johnny Bravo. Tickets will be required to participate and will be available to purchase soon.
This year the gala will benefit Huggins and Morgan Elementary. We will release more information as we get closer to the date. You don't want to miss it!"

Affiliated Community Organization Parent Interest Meeting - April 8th 3:45 p.m.
Affiliated Community Organizations (ACO) are parent Organizations established to promote school programs or complement student groups or activities. An ACO’s purpose may be to support a student group or program at a particular school or various student groups or programs at various schools. Students enrich their education and expand their horizons when they participate in school activities and programs. Therefore, the District greatly appreciates the time, effort, and financial support that the Affiliated Community Organizations provide to our students.
I have heard about all the amazing support Friends of Huggins provides for Huggins’ students and staff and I am very excited about working towards creating our Affiliated Community Organization for Morgan. I am also interested in learning more about the support and activities Friends of Huggins provided that the community prefers, while considering new ideas and a new vision for Morgan.
Dr. Jon Maxwell, our district's Executive Director of Student Programs and I will be hosting a parent informational meeting for any Morgan parent interested in starting the ACO for Morgan Elementary on Thursday, April 8th at 3:45 p.m. The focus of the meeting will be to provide important information on our district's process/guidelines for starting ACOs and how the organization works with the school, as well as answer any questions interested parents may have about the process.
The meeting format will be either in person or via Zoom. We will need to obtain the number of interested parents to determine which meeting format will work best. If you are a Morgan parent interested in starting the Affiliated Community Organization for Morgan and would like to attend the meeting please complete the survey by Friday, March 26th:
If you would like more information on the district's ACO guidelines, please click on the button below to access the Lamar CISD Affiliated Community Organization guide.
