BFH Falcons View
February 3 to 7, 2025
Principal's Message
Dear Falcon students and families,
As we move into the second week of the second semester we are excited to have our students moving past their entry level course activities, and on to the more challenging elements that their new classes will present. This week will be a little shorter as there will be no school on Thursday or Friday as teachers will be attending Teachers' Convention.
Our administration will be visiting all of our classes this upcoming week for a quick midyear information sharing and the expectations for the second semester. Messages around expectations of Digital citizenship, the EIPS Student Code of Conduct, and the importance of maintaining attendance are some of the highlights that we will be discussing.
I hope you all have fantastic week, and as always, if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.
Ken Wlos
Principal
Course Changes for Semester Two
**Deadline for Course Changes is Wednesday, February 5, 2025**
Second semester classes began last Thursday, January 30, 2025. Students were reminded to check their timetables on PowerSchool for second semester. There have been some changes to room assignments and student schedules due to class sizes. If you have requested a course change and it has not been made, attend the class you are registered in until you meet with your grade administrator or counselor to discuss a change.
Counselors:
Mrs. MacNutt - Grade 10
Mrs. Tattrie - Grade 11
Mr. Lawlor - Grade 12
EIPS Returning Student Registration is Feb. 10th to 24th only!
EIPS returning student registration is February 10 to 24 only! Bev Facey has an Open Boundary!
**We will be accepting all new students and encourage any grade 9 students and their parents to attend our February 11 - Open House (6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.) to get more information and a glimpse of our awesome school community.
The 2025-26 returning student registration process for all current EIPS students will take place Feb. 10-24, 2025. Families who apply to attend a non-designated school will be advised of the outcome by early March.
Between 9:00 a.m. and noon on February 10, current EIPS families will receive a Returning Student Registration 2025-26 form via Permission Click. No log in is required to complete the form.
All current PALS to Grade 11 students in EIPS must complete the returning student registration process—whether they're continuing at the same school or moving to a new school next year:
- if you'd like your child to attend your designated school next year;
- if you'd like to apply to have your child attend a non-designated school or program next year;
- if your child is applying to join or continue in an alternative program; or
- if your child will not return to EIPS next year.
Applying to a non-designated school or program:
To be considered for enrolment in a non-designated school or program in the upcoming school year, families must make that request during the returning student registration process. Acceptance at a requested non-designated school or program is based on available space. Some EIPS schools have closed boundaries because of high enrolment numbers and are not accepting registrations from non-designated students.
NOTE: All requests to attend a specific school or program for returning students in grades 1-12 must be completed during the returning student registration process to be considered for the next school year. The only exception: students who move into the Division from outside the geographic area, or another community within the Division, following the deadline. The Division will contact all families who apply to attend a non-designated school to advise of the outcome by early March.
Bev Facey's School Council meets every third Tuesday of the month from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in our school library. On Tuesday, February 18 our fifth meeting of the year will take place, and part of the focus will be a continuation of information sharing around our 2025-2026 proposed school fees. We would love to see as many parents as possible attend.

School counselors play an essential role in building supportive school communities where every student can thrive. #SCHOOLCOUNSELLORSHELP
School Counselors support the academic, social, and emotional growth of students.
School Counselors intervene when additional supports are required for students’ mental health, academic outcomes, and overall well-being.
School Counselors advocate for students to help them reach their goals in a safe and inclusive school environment.
Pink Shirt Day 2025
Stand Up. Speak Out. Spread Kindness.
Pink Shirt Day started in 2007 when a student in Nova Scotia was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. Today, it’s a global movement to promote kindness and prevent bullying.
This February 26th, let’s come together, wear pink, and show that we stand for inclusion, respect, and healthy relationships. Whether at school, work, or with family and friends, we can all create safe spaces by supporting one another.
