The Principal's Letter
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!
As the principal of Portage High School, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone back for a great year in Portage. The dedicated teachers and staff are excited to have students back in our classrooms and hallways, filling them with energy and enthusiasm for learning. It is our mission to ensure all students learn at high levels. Additionally, we strive to inspire, encourage, and provide opportunities for students to become critical thinkers and lifelong learners. Our teachers utilize research-based practices and analyze academic data through our PLC process to determine current skill levels and set goals for growth and academic achievement. We believe all students who graduate from high school are prepared for the demands of postsecondary education, meaningful careers, and effective citizenship.
A well-rounded education extends beyond the classroom. This year, we have various clubs, sports, and extracurricular activities for students to explore. Participating in these activities is an excellent way for students to develop new skills, build friendships, and enhance their high school experience. I encourage all students to get involved and maximize these opportunities.
Upcoming Events and Important Dates
Homecoming: Mark your calendars for Homecoming Week, September 16 to September 21. The week will be filled with school spirit, themed dress-up days, a pep rally, and the Homecoming football game and dance. More details will be shared soon.

Health and Wellness
As we begin the new school year, I want to remind everyone of the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Please encourage your students to sleep well, eat nutritious meals, and stay active. Additionally, if your child feels unwell, please keep them at home and notify the school. Keeping our school community healthy is a collective effort, and your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Stay Connected
We strive to maintain strong communication between home and school. Please regularly check our school website and follow us on social media for the latest news, updates, and information on upcoming events. If you have any questions or concerns, contact the school office.
Looking Ahead
This school year will be filled with growth, learning, and memorable experiences for all our students. Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child’s education. Together, we can make this a successful year for everyone at Portage High School.

Athletics
Athletics Website
The Portage Athletic Department is thrilled to once again offer free admission to all 2024-25 home sporting events for high school students. This exciting announcement comes as part of the department's ongoing efforts to make their events accessible and inclusive for the entire community. In addition to the free entry for high schoolers, the department has also decided to extend free admission to elementary and middle school students who are accompanied by an adult chaperone. This family-friendly policy aims to encourage younger students to get involved and support their school's athletic teams.
However, if an elementary or middle school student attends without an adult, they will be required to either pay the standard $5 ticket price or purchase a $30 "admit one" pass that grants access to any Warriors home event, excluding WIAA tournament games. For adult fans and spectators, the $30 admit one pass is also available, providing a convenient and cost-effective option to attend multiple home games throughout the season. These passes can be purchased at the ticket tables during any home event, or in advance starting on August 5th at the high school. To ensure the ticket office is staffed, the department recommends calling 608-742-8545 ext 1012 to confirm Tara's availability. The Portage Athletic Department is thrilled to welcome the community to cheer on the Warriors and looks forward to an exciting 2024-25 season!
