Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 - 8th grade only
In February, all 8th grade students will be preparing for and taking the Reading and the Writing portions of the TSIA2 test through their College and Career Readiness classes at all BISD middle school campuses. This is a test that is given through the College Board platform. The math portion will be tested after all students complete Algebra 1 in high school.
The actual test will begin February 26 and will take 2 to 3 class days for the students to complete the test. To ensure success, there is a 6-day test preparation unit that is covered in all CCR classes in February.
The rationale behind preparing students for this test in middle school is that students must pass the TSIA test before they are eligible to qualify for any Dual Credit or AP courses. It is also required for the PTECH programs. Once a student passes the TSIA test, the scores are good for 7 years. This means they will not have to take it again in high school or as a College Placement exam when they start college or a trade school.
Because we want to get as many students to pass as possible, we ask for your support in making sure they are present as much as possible throughout February.
7TH GRADE CAREER DAY, February 13th from 1-3 pm at CHS!
All three middle schools have worked together with CHS and BHS to bring them "Boerne Career Day". Various Boerne businesses will be showcased at CHS for our 7th grade student to learn about. We are very excited for this collaboration!
