Seventh Grade
Our school district adopted I-Ready Math because it offers a combination of diagnostic assessments and personalized instruction that can address individual student needs. Here are several ways your student’s teacher may use the program.
Diagnostic Assessments: i-Ready includes diagnostic tests that help determine each student’s strengths and areas for improvement. This data can be used to tailor instruction to meet students where they are.
Personalized Learning: The program provides personalized learning paths based on the diagnostic results. This means students get instruction and practice that is suited to their specific skill levels. This is the My-Path your student will work on throughout the year.
Progress Monitoring: i-Ready tracks students’ progress over time, allowing teachers to monitor growth and adjust instruction as needed. Students take the diagnostic in August, December, and then again in March.
Support for Teachers: i-Ready provides teachers with data and resources to support their instruction, helping them identify which concepts students may need more help with.
Flexible Learning: It can be used both in the classroom and at home, providing additional support outside of school hours.
Overall, the goal is to provide a more tailored and effective math instruction experience that can better address the diverse needs of students.
To better help your student with I-Ready you can encourage your student to complete two lessons a week on the math My-Path. In addition, ask to see the Family Letter for each section of the book, and have your student explain some of the problems we have solved in class.
Reach out to your student’s math teacher for any questions about the program.
Eighth Grade
Eighth grade science students are applying Newton's 3rd law to design a solution to problems observed when crashing toy cars. Students are using 3D pens to print a solution for the problem observed during the car crashes. Students then get to test the printed solution to see if they observe any differences when the cars are crashed.
