From the Principal's Desk
Good Afternoon Eagle Families,
It is truly an honor to have been selected as the new Principal of Paul R. Smith Middle School. I am very excited to join this extraordinary school community.
I would like to share some of my background with you. I have been an educator in Pasco County for 13 years. I began my career as an English, Theatre, and Debate teacher at Sunlake High School, where I taught for just over 8 years. Previous to my Principalship here at Paul R. Smith Middle School, I worked in leadership roles across our county at Pasco Middle School, Cypress Creek Middle School, and Cypress Creek Middle/High School. I look forward to using what I have learned from these collective experiences as your new principal.
On a personal level, I am very family oriented. I am a wife to my supportive husband, Ryan, and a mother to my son Randall (13), daughter Annelise (9), Finn our goldendoodle, and our two cats, Sheriff and Aggie. Traveling with my family is my favorite hobby.
For the remainder of the summer, I will be working closely with current members of our team to ensure a smooth transition. I will be spending time learning about our school, community, and the unique needs of our students and staff. I am fully committed to embracing the current Eagle traditions and practices as well as working together to create new traditions.
My leadership philosophy is based on the belief that every Eagle at Paul R. Smith Middle should receive an enriched education designed to promote mutual respect, professionalism, and innovative learning techniques. I support my teams by leading by example, and it is my pleasure to do whatever is necessary to assist all stakeholders. I believe that great leaders value the importance of building positive relationships and communicating the worth of their people by celebrating their accomplishments, guiding them towards their goals and supporting them when they are in need.
Have a great weekend! Please make sure that you are taking these last few days of summer to do something that you enjoy!
I look forward to meeting everyone soon!
Dr. Usry
