Message from the Principal - Mrs. Haynes
Dear LES Parents and Families,
We have made it to fall and are very close to Fall Break! Parents and Families, we've been working hard, but we are just getting started. Buckle up and mark your calendars carefully; there is a LOT going on this month! First, let's talk about what we've been up to!
To celebrate International Literacy Day 2024 and International Dot Day, we were thrilled to host Miss Georgia, Lulu Louizaire, as the inaugural guest of the 2024 school year on our LES Knightworthy podcast. This student-researched and student-led podcast is available for your listening pleasure on Spotify. Miss Georgia, whose platform is literacy, shared her passion by highlighting the book The Dot and inspiring our students to make their mark on the world. This was her second visit to LES, and like many of our guests, she was drawn back by the warm, familial welcome and the enthusiasm of our students. Be ready to cheer her on in the Miss America pageant!
Continuing our tradition of exposing students to excellence, we celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by welcoming children’s book author Carmen Agra Deedy. Through her captivating storytelling, Ms. Deedy provided our students with a glimpse into Hispanic culture.
Our 4th and 5th grade students were the first to take a field trip this school year! They visited the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Not only were they very well behaved, but they also had a great time and took pictures with the cast. Thank you, Parents, for supporting this field trip and thank you to those who served as chaperones.
PTA Involvement and Upcoming Events
Our PTA has been actively involved in supporting our school through various fundraisers. Recently, they held two successful events, selling donuts, cookies, and cupcakes to our students. PTA also hosted its first Skate Night of the school year! Supporting our PTA is a fantastic way to support our school community. I was delighted to welcome our PTA board members and other parents to our first School Council meeting of the school year. LES parents are always invited, so please make sure to attend our next meeting to hear about our Local School Plan of Improvement and meet some of our wonderful staff. Don't be shy! We love to welcome our parents and families to our school for events and activities.
October Happenings
This month is packed with exciting activities! We are currently celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. Our students recently enjoyed Cultural Dress-Up Day, and on Wednesday, they will participate in a Latin Dance Party. Our clubs are in full swing, and the cast members of Moana have started their rehearsals.
Don’t miss our annual PTA-sponsored Fall Festival this month! We need everyone to attend. If you’re interested in volunteering, click the PTA link below and join today.
We also have several dress-up days planned, as shown on the calendar. We’re trying something new with our Literacy Night event by hosting a Trunk or Read for our families. Most importantly, we need all parents to attend our Parent-Teacher conferences this month. Our staff works hard to prepare activities and events for our students and families, and we hope to see you present for all of them!
Thanks so much for your support!
Sincerely,
Your Proud Principal
Candace Haynes

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
About Us
Lawrenceville Elementary is very proud to be a PBIS school. PBIS focuses on positive behaviors, teaching and reteaching school and classroom expectations and rewarding students with incentives. Our school expectations are taught and referred to daily so all students can be equipped to have a successful day at Lawrenceville Elementary.
Our Awesome Incentives:
- Lead Bucks: Buy rewards and admission to events throughout the school year.
- BOB (Best on Bus): These students have a chance to earn a Pizza lunch with the A-Team.
- PBIS Store: Students can use their LEAD bucks to buy desired items.
- PBIS Celebrations: Fun school-wide events to celebrate students for awesome behavior!
You can help!
We encourage all parents to talk with your child about the school motto and what it means to them. Ask them if they earned any Lead Bucks this week. Ask them about some of the PBIS Celebrations and how to earn it.
