We ❤️ Milford School District
February 2024
Dear MSD Buccaneers Families,
As we enter our third marking period, we are thrilled to highlight the many things we love about Milford School District! Throughout our newsletter you will find examples of not only our student successes but also our staff successes. From our overall students academic progress, increase in daily attendance rate, recent visual and performing art performances, the competitive BUC pride and spirit demonstrated by our winter sports teams to our Multilingual learners who participated in our annual ML Olympics event, we are beaming with pride! We are incredibly grateful for your continued support as we continue to chart the course to excellence throughout Milford School District and our greater community.
With gratitude,
The MSD Leadership Team
A few reminders from our District Strategic Plan:
Academic Excellence
- Testing - Every year students in every Delaware public school are given assessments in various content areas to measure how much they have learned from the instructional material taught by their teacher(s). These assessments are also a measure of a student's proficiency in a subject and/or against State standards. Most assessments occur each spring. Click here for helpful information and resources.
- Congratulations to our MP2 Honor Roll students!
Empowering and Investing in Our People
- Milford School District is now seeking nominations for Teacher of the Year and Behavioral Health Professional of the Year. We know we have many outstanding employees to recognize! Parents, students, staff members, and community members may nominate.
- Congratulations to our February MSD Treasures!
Building Our Future
- February 15 recognizes School Resource Officers. Thank you, S/Cpl. Theresa Bloodsworth and Pfc. James Matthews for their service, along with our other school safety constables.
- This month we celebrate I ❤️the Bus Month and Bus Driver/Aide Appreciation Day. Thank you to our bus drivers, contractors, and aides for always going the extra mile!
Supporting the Whole Student
- National School Counseling Week (Feb 5-9): Thank you to our Amazing Counseling Team!
- Welcome Laura Schneider, our new Child Nutrition Supervisor. The Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well-being and their ability to learn.
Celebrating our Multilingual Learners
The Milford School District proudly hosted our fourth annual “ML Olympics”. Multilingual Learner (ML) Olympics is an annual academic competition created by the staff of Milford School District to highlight ML students and their academic abilities, while building pride and confidence in their multilingualism. The first event of its kind in the state, the purpose is to celebrate and recognize the hard work and dedication of our ML’s who have each worked to master more than one language.
