Message from Dr. Taylor-Cox
May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and Jewish American Heritage Month
MCPS recognizes and celebrates the history and experiences of Asian Pacific Americans. The district is committed to including that history into its curricula to foster understanding, empathy and support of Asian Pacific students and families. National Jewish American Heritage Month is a time for all Americans to recognize and celebrate the contributions Jewish Americans have made to American history, culture and society. MCPS is committed to educating students about Jewish American history and addressing antisemitism in its schools.
Student Webinar on Understanding and Addressing Anti-Asian Hate
Students in grades 6-12 are invited to attend a webinar on Tuesday, May 21, to understand, prevent and stand up to anti-Asian hate. Students will receive two Student Service Learning (SSL) hours for attending and reflecting on their learning.

Virtual Event on Jewish History in MCPS’ Social Studies Curricula
The MCPS Social Studies team will share how Jewish history is integrated into its elementary and secondary curricula. Register to attend. Students, parents and caregivers are welcome.

FKES Career Spirit Week
We're excited to announce our FKES Career Week from May 20th-May 24th, and our Career Day on May 23rd! Students will explore various professions and will also participate in career themed activities throughout the week. In addition, each day features a different theme to continue our learning and celebration of different careers. Thank you for your support in making Career Week memorable for our students. Enrollment Is Open for Prekindergarten and Kindergarten
Prekindergarten and Head Start Registration Open for Income-Eligible Families
Children 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2024, can register online or in person for the Prekindergarten and Head Start programs. Families must be income-eligible to apply.
Children who will be 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2024, are eligible to register for kindergarten.
Family Resources
