We are so lucky to have such a special group of teachers that went above and beyond to plan an exciting and motivational week for our school community!
Performing Arts with Ms. Alberta
Reynolds students have been gearing up for their spring music performances this month! Kindergarteners, First Graders, and Second Graders have been working hard to learn all of their songs, create decorations for the stage, learn instrument parts, and practice different movements. In concert rehearsals, the students have been so enthusiastic about the music that they will be performing, and impressively prepared to share it. Our concerts, titled “Music Of The People”, “Cover The World With Love”, and “What A Wonderful World”, will feature songs from a variety of different genres, composers, and languages that are sure to be exciting for all. Ms. Alberta and the Reynolds students look forward to welcoming the community to our concerts in the coming weeks!
Wellness Day
We are very excited to announce that this year the Reynolds P.E. team will be hosting a school wide Wellness Day on March 28th. During our Wellness Day, students will be invited to wear a comfortable outfit. They will be participating in a series of stations that are dedicated to teaching about wellness. Students will be learning from teachers and community leaders, such as: policemen, dentists, nurses, fitness instructors and coaches. Students will be learning about eating right, dental hygiene, being safe, and how to stay calm. Our students will also be staying active through yoga, a fitness boot camp, jump roping activities and sport activities. Mr. Walis and Mr. Ramirez are looking forward to a fun and exciting day.
Tips From the Learning Lab
Literacy
Use your child's word study concepts to build word families.
(Examples: If the concept is short e, you can build- ten, den, men, pen or jet, bet, met, let, etc.
If the concept is long a spelled ai, you can build- rain, main, pain, stain, etc.)
Talk about the words to build your child's vocabulary.
Numeracy:
Practice counting on from a number other than 1 and counting back to a number other than 0. Use numbers that are appropriate for your child.
Practice skip counting with your child. Count by 10s, 5s, and 2s. Start at numbers other than 0, 10, 5, or 2. Use numbers that are appropriate for your child and build from there.
Counseling Corner with Mrs. Slacin
Reynolds students learned all about diversity in a special Guidance lesson during the month of February. After watching a brief video that showed all the wonderful ways that we are each special and unique, students listened to a read aloud of All Are Welcome by Alexandra Penfold. In this simple yet powerful book, we explored ways that we are all different in our backgrounds and experiences. The story emphasizes that no matter who you are, you are always welcome in our school. Students had an opportunity to interview a classmate to discover all the ways that they are alike and different. It was a wonderful way for students to make connections and celebrate our diversity.
