February 2024

May 28, 2025
From the Principal
Pirate Families,
As we reach the end of the school year, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued partnership and support. This year has been filled with moments of growth, resilience, and countless times of achievement. From academic accomplishments to athletic championships, from fine arts performances and awards to acts of kindness and leadership, our students have given us something to be proud of.
Your partnership and involvement have helped create a strong, supportive community where students thrive. Thank you for trusting us with your children and for walking alongside us every step of the way. As we head into summer, I hope your family finds time to rest, recharge, and celebrate the successes of the past year. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in the fall with renewed energy and purpose.

Dangerous TikTok Trend
We want to make you aware of a dangerous trend currently circulating on TikTok and other social media platforms. In videos online, students are being encouraged to insert paperclips into electrical outlets and ports on their devices. This can cause sparks, potential fires, and very serious injuries. If this occurs at school, it will be taken very seriously with consequences for those involved. Please take a moment to talk with your child about the risks of participating in trends like this and remind them that their safety is important. If you have questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out to our office.
Nurses's Office
Important Notice: Required Vaccinations for Incoming 12th Grade Students
In accordance with Missouri state law, all students entering 12th grade must be up-to-date on their vaccinations. Specifically, students are required to have received a 2nd meningococcal vaccine before they can attend school.
Students who do not provide proof of these vaccinations will not be allowed to receive their class schedule at the back-to-school event or begin the 2025–2026 school year.
Please submit updated vaccination records to the front office or school nurse as soon as possible.
End-of-Year Medication Pick-Up Notice
The Platte County School District does not permit medications to be stored at school over the summer or sent home with students at the end of the school year.
All medications must be picked up by a parent, guardian, or other authorized adult by 11:50 AM on Wednesday, May 29, the last day of school.
Any medications remaining in the health office after this time will be properly disposed of.
If your child is attending summer school, medications may remain at school until the end of the summer session. In that case, please notify the school nurse, and plan to pick up the medications on the final day of summer school.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

Counseling Corner
School Counseling Survey
In order to meet Missouri Comprehensive School Counseling guidelines, the High School Counseling Department conducts a school counseling survey periodically. The results of this survey help us to plan our counseling program around themes identified as important by students, parents, and staff. Please complete this survey on PCHS school counseling/school social work services by the end of the 24-25 school year.
Course Changes for 25-26
Students entered their course requests through SchooLinks for the 25-26 school year in February. If changes for the 25-26 year are requested prior to the first week of school, they will be completed based on the following needs:
- Schedules that need to be amended based upon limitations from programs or courses students have been accepted to (NCC, NCAPS, audition based courses, etc...)
- Incomplete schedules due to conflicts in the master schedule
- Seniors who have requested part-time status (students are encouraged to submit their part time request by May 23, 2025) Students and parents are strongly encouraged to review the part-time criteria and considerations.
Changes that are requested based on changes in interest since submitting requests in February will be reviewed when students submit a course change request form in August per our schedule change process guidelines.
