Teacher Union Strike Day - Thursday 16 March
Dear Parents, Caregivers and Whānau,
The teacher unions, Primary-NZEI and Secondary-PPTA, have organised a teacher strike day for Thursday 16 March as part of their campaign to improve conditions and pay in their collective employment agreements with the Ministry of Education.
The majority of teachers at Rangeview Intermediate School are covered by the NZEI or PPTA union and will therefore be withdrawing their labour on this day. Our school will be unable to provide our normal teaching timetable and ask you to keep your child at home. We will have a few staff on site if you are unable to do this and will send more information about this next week.
Every school will be affected by the strike.
We regret this disruption to learning and the inconvenience this may cause for families.
Correction
Correction from our last newsletter. Our last newsletter shared the news that Mrs Koefoed has resigned and will be leaving us after seven and a half years, it should have said she is leaving us after eight and a half years as she joined us in October 2014. Apologies for the error.

Western Zone Boys Softball Tournament
On Thursday 9 March, 19 enthusiastic boys travelled to the Western Zone Softball Tournament held at Brains Park.
All of our boys demonstrated our RISE values and played with determination. The Year 8 team had a few close battles and managed two wins to place 6th.
Our Year 7 Team won every game through to the finals. In the final they came up against a tight team from Henderson Intermediate, but our boys were too good and came away with a solid win. This means they will go on to the Auckland Champs Tournament in a couple of weeks.
Congratulations to: Hantz Muller 7GRi, Riley Grace 7NH, Jakob Hollier 7GRi, Leo Murphy 7KD, M-Jay Patten Wickliffe 7GRi, Cruz Sorenson 7SL, Ezra Sorenson 7PS, Zach Tolley 7KD and Agape Tuigamala 7GRi.
Te Atatu Ultimate Frisbee, 7 March 2023
The Rangeview Intermediate School Leaders spent the day supporting our local primary schools at their Ultimate Frisbee Event.
Blair Curtis, the sports coordinator from Tirimoana Primary School said it was, " a late summer scorcher and all the teams played with great heart. Many thanks to our Rangeview helpers, as the first from our Kahui Ako support.”
Well done Peninsula Primary on taking out the Competitive Mixed grade (round robin) with Rutherford Primary finishing runner-up. Also, a big congratulations to Freyberg Community School for the Fair Play School of the Day.
Riley Bishara Pattison is one of our school leaders and she wrote this about the day:
When we attended the Ultimate Frisbee Competition, we had a great experience helping younger tamariki for their zone day. We also had the opportunity to show our leadership skills by helping and supporting students as they played. We showed great teamwork when there were challenges such as when we found a dog named Buster. He was a big dog but friendly, we took care of him when the owner wasn’t answering their phone. We also looked after a girl called Nicola from Rutherford Primary who had a frisbee fly into her nose. She had a massive nosebleed. We fixed her up and she was good to go for the rest of the day.
In the end, we all had an enjoyable time sharing our skills and knowledge with one-another. Hanging out with each other was a great way to bond with one-another as a group. We hope we get to do more things like this in the future.
