School Board Vacancy
The Dryden Community School District is seeking applications for a current vacant position on the Dryden Board of Education. An individual will be appointed to fill the vacant position until the November 3, 2026 elections have been held and certified and a newly elected individual has been sworn-in to fill the remainder of this position’s term. Interested persons must submit a letter expressing interest in the board position and their qualifications for the position to the district office no later than 3:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. A candidate must be a registered voter of the Dryden School District, at least 18 years of age, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Michigan for at least 30 days. HOSA State Competition Bound!
Congratulations to Dryden High School senior Jade Insley on her state qualifying performance in the Emergency Medical Technician Regional Competition at Saginaw Valley State University on December 6. A member of the Public Safety Class at Lapeer EdTech, Jade's 4th place finish with her partner, Taia Willis of Lapeer, qualified her for the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) State Competition at Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City in April. We're proud of you!
Save on Winter Outdoor Activities!
It's time to hit the slopes and trails with this special Michigan offer! Save big on lessons by signing up for a weekly program or academy at Snow Snake in Harrison. Snow Snake is the best place to learn for everyone who wants to learn to ski or snowboard. New this year - adults can sign up for the After School Adult Program and youth ages 6 – 12 can register for the Saturday Ski/Board Skills Academy. Returning programs include the After School Youth Program, the Snow Snake Race Academy, and Free Lesson Sunday. Ski areas across the state team up with Michigan McDonald’s restaurants to offer an affordable introduction to the sports of skiing and snowboarding. This program is for people 7 years and older for skiing and 10 years and older for snowboarding. Choose to downhill ski, cross-country ski or snowboard The price is just $60 per beginner session. ONE SESSION PER CUSTOMER PER LESSON TYPE. (You may take one downhill ski session, one snowboard session and one cross-country session.) Kids in 4th and 5th Grade Ski all winter long with the Cold is Cool Passport! The Cold is Cool Passport App allows 4th and 5th graders to ski two or three times at each of the 29 participating ski areas! Whether you live in Michigan or are coming to visit, families with 4th and 5th grade students can download the Cold is Cool Ski & Ride Passport app, and get two-to three complimentary lift tickets or trail passes at each of the 29 participating ski areas (Over 60 lift tickets in total!). Varsity Boys Basketball

On Wednesday, December 11th, 2024, the Dryden Varsity Boys Basketball team played Akron-Fairgrove at home. In the first quarter of the game, Dryden dominated with 32 points while Akron only tallied 3. In the second quarter, Dryden scored 11 points when Akron gained 6 points. Third quarter Dryden polished 14 points with Akron’s 8 points. The last quarter was on both sides relaxed with Dryden’s 5 points and Akron's 2 points. In the end, Dryden won the game with 62 points and Akron-Fairgrove with 19. Dryden’s overall team score is 2-2.
On Dryden’s side, Gianni Coscione scored 12 points; Sonny Coscione added 9; Hayden Blair and Rowan Handley each sank 6; Luke Taylor accomplished 8; Nick Abromaitis attained 10; Dain Raymond had an impressive 3 point shot, and Brady Schneider finished with 4.
After the game, Coach John DelCampo commented, "It was good for us because each player saw a lot of minutes."
On Friday, December 13th, 2024, the Dryden Varsity Boys Basketball team played Oakland Christian at home. With the first quarter starting the game, Dryden scored 15 points while Oakland scored 21 points. In quarter two Oakland Christian was still in the lead gaining 16 points and Dryden with 14 points. Quarter three was filled with defense when Oakland Christian added 7 points and Dryden with 6 points trying to keep up. In the last quarter, quarter four, Oakland Christian kept the lead by racking up 17 points while Dryden only had 15 points. To end the game, Dryden tallied up 50 points and Oakland Christian scored 54. Dryden's overall team record is 2-3.
On Dryden's side, Gianni Coscione accomplished 18 points; Sonny Coscione attained 12; David Insley amassed 9; Luke Taylor notched 7; and Brady Schneider added 4.
On Oakland Christian’s side, Jake Brock gained 12 points; Carter Combs scored 12 points; Nate Walkenhurst pulled off 11 points.
At the end of the game, Coach John DelCampo reflected “We did not play consistently defensively and it cost us. Too many easy baskets.”
Junior High Girls Basketball

Dryden fought hard in their game against CPS, with Ella Gustner leading the team by scoring all 4 points. Though the final score was 22-4 in CPS’s favor, Dryden showed determination throughout the match.
Varsity Bowling

On December 9th, the Dryden Bowling teams faced off against Caro at Hideaway Lanes in an action-packed match.
The boys' team fought hard but struggled to find their rhythm. After baker games of 105 and 97, they fell behind 10-0. Dylan Lasher led the scoring with impressive games of 139 and 167, while Sean Finnigan added a 153 in his first game. Despite strong efforts, including a 120 from Logan Romain, the boys fell short, losing 28-2 (1-1 in conference). Honorable mention goes to Liam Schultz, who picked up a double in the second game.
The girls' team showed resilience and teamwork to claim a victory. They edged out Caro in the first baker game, 120-112, with Mikayla Fleming clutching a 9/6 frame in the 10th to secure the win. A stellar team baker score of 180 gave the girls a 10-0 lead. Though they dropped the first 5-on-5 game, Chloe DeLoy's 127 helped earn a few points. Leading 12-7 into the final game, the girls rallied behind Mikayla Fleming's 161 and Brooke Dombrowski's 130 to secure a 38-pin win and a 19-11 victory (2-0 in conference). Honorable mention goes to Kayla Baughman for earning a mark in her first varsity appearance.

On December 10th, Dryden defeated Akron Fairgrove with a score of 54-26. Keira Miller led the team with 18 points, followed by Isabella Weier with 15, and Jalynn Delmotte, who scored 11 points and hit 1 three-pointer. Kierstyn Stankevich and Mckinley Gammon each contributed 4 points, while Monica Kucharski added 2. Dryden’s record now stands at 2-1.
