Mills Elementary School
April 1, 2024 - April 5, 2024
A Note From The Principal
Dear Families,
Time flies, and here we are stepping into April! The coming weeks are brimming with events on campus, and we're eager for you to be part of them.
This past weekend, I had the pleasure of joining our Art teachers, Ms. Tipton and Ms. Trueheart, at the AISD Performing Arts Center for Youth Art Month celebrations. A number of our talented Mills students had their artwork selected for exhibition at the PAC, showcasing their creativity alongside peers from across the district. Witnessing our students and art teachers being celebrated was a truly proud moment for me.
Another proud moment was finding out that our very own Ms. Sara Sanchez was recognized as 1of 3 finalists for Austin ISD's Clerical/Front Office Staff of the Year! This is a well deserved recognition, as Ms. Sanchez works magic into creating amazing STEM and Maker Space experiences for our students as well as supporting our staff with technology support across campus.
This is Spring Book Fair Week! For those eager to explore the book fair with your Mountain Lion, we'll have library hours on Wednesday (4/3) from 5:30pm to 7pm. Make sure to treat yourselves to Kona Ice and Rosemary's Baked Treats while you're there to support our library!
We're also gearing up for Big Art Day this Thursday (4/4), where you'll be treated to stunning Chihuly-inspired art pieces crafted by our students. This week concludes with our PreK, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade students showcasing their creativity in the annual Book Character Parade, parading as their favorite literary characters.
We look forward to celebrating these moments with you and creating memories that enrich our school community!
Warmly,
Angela Frageman
Spring Family Panorama Survey
Your feedback helps us grow!
Austin ISD has partnered with Panorama Education to conduct our 2024 Family Survey. Panorama safeguards your privacy, keeping your responses confidential.
The survey shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to complete and will be a valuable source of information for us as we work to make our schools and district as
good as they can be.
You may complete the survey online between March 25 and April 12 using a
computer, tablet, or smartphone by visiting the website
Construction Updates & Feedback Shared: April CAC Meeting
The City of Austin's Safe Routes Division will be attending Monday's (4/1) CAC meeting to share adjustments they've made to the road updates around campus. Mills families are invited to attend this afternoon at 3:30pm if you have questions:https://austinisd-org.zoom.us/j/83930818437
A big adjustment includes working with the city's signal team to lengthen the duration of lights to help with traffic queuing. The city will continue to gather feedback from the community and campus in order to meet the needs of all stakeholders.
Continue to follow these helpful tips:
Drop off early. School doors open at 7:15am.
Consider using both car drop off zones during am arrival. They are the bus lane facing Lantana and the front circle drive facing Davis Lane. Drop off before 7:20am to avoid traffic congestion.
Park your vehicle (away from Davis Lane) and walk your student(s) to school.
Consider alternative routes away from Davis Lane between 7:20am-7:50am.
Do NOT cut through the front parking lot in order to drop off your child to avoid the car line.
