Dollenger says....
Seasons Greetings,
December is just about over and we are ready for our winter break. Winter Spirit Week is December 16 - 20 and look forward to the festivities organized by the Student Government Association; including a classroom door decorating contest and candy grams sold at lunch and delivered before break. Also, there is a Dodgeball Tournament students can play in or watch on Thursday, December 19. Students can purchase tickets or sign up their team during lunches (Note: CCST will not be brought back to watch or play).
Lastly, Winter Break will be December 23 through January 3 for students; school resumes January 6, 2025.
From everyone here at NEHS, we wish everyone safe and happy holidays!

Grades and Zeroes: NEHS ZAP! (Zeroes are not Permitted)
Parents and Students,
You will receive bi-weekly emails alerting you that your student has missing assignments, which are zeroes in the grade book. With things being so busy for so many people, this is a reminder for students and parents to check grades and turn in work. This email is useful to prompt conversations between students and their support systems to open up PowerSchool and look at their current grades. If you have questions about specific zeroes, assignments, how your student is doing in class, or why they have zeroes, then it is best to reach out to the student's teacher to get an idea of what's happening. These emails will come out to all students with zeroes every two weeks, so get on it and get those assignments turned in.
If you can't access PowerSchool to see your student's account and grades, please contact your student's guidance counselor to get the necessary information.
Attendance + Turning in all assignments = Success!
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Ms. Pucci, Assistant Principal
No Outside Food Deliveries During the School Day
Please refrain from having food/beverages delivered or dropped off to students during the school day. Deliveries will be turned away. We thank you in advance for your assistance in reducing the amount of disruptions to school operations.
Bus Notes
As a reminder, a request to ride a different bus home or to school is reserved for emergencies and will need approval of administration. If you are requesting permission for your child to ride another bus, please follow the steps below:
· A written note from both parents indicating the reason for the request
· Please include your phone number on the note
· Notes must be received by noon on the day of the request
· Phone calls cannot be accepted

General Athletic Information
If you are planning on coming to support our student athletes please know that all events in the gymnasium will be charged admission.
NEHS is still experiencing problems with the implementation of credit and debit cards electronically at sporting events for admission. The poor cell service has made consistent and efficient use problematic. Please continue to be prepared to pay cash just in case this service is not working on any particular game day.
We do not allow backpacks, pets, or outside food (when we offer concessions). Any student under high school age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. In addition, once you leave the event, you may not return. There is no smoking or vaping anywhere on school property regardless of age.
Blue Locker
Blue Locker is a small shop within the high school where everything is FREE and students can access it anonymously. We offer a variety of sizes of mens' and womens' clothing and shoes. We also have limited hygiene products and non-perishable foods. Students who need assistance can fill out the Google Form by scanning the QR Code. BIG NEWS - We have recently added school supplies!
*Only available to NEHS students

- Financial Aid Completion Night 1/21/25 5:30 pm in Media Center
Over the past few weeks, our AVID elective classes have been busy working on skills to help develop learning habits and academic excellence
In Mr. Veiger's AVID class, students spent time with Tutorials. These small group sessions help students develop critical thinking skills, learn independently, and improve their understanding of core concepts taught in their classes.
In Mrs. Reasers's AVID class, students had the pleasure of having Grant Handley, a guest speaker, speak to their class.
Hello North East Families!
We are the Action Club, an organization very similar to the PTA/PTO from the elementary and middle schools. Anyone may join our club (free of charge), but we are primarily a group of parents who work together to do all that we can to support and enhance the experiences for the students, staff, and local community of North East High School (NEHS). We are here to promote NEHS’s curricular and extra-curricular support for school-wide activities in an effort to improve school spirit, provide enrichment, and develop positive student, teacher, parent, administrative, and community relationships.

Safe Schools Maryland is Maryland’s only official anonymous reporting system. Safe Schools Maryland operates twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year. Your anonymous report can be submitted by calling the tip line (1-833-MD-B-SAFE / 1-833-632-7233), completing an online form (below), or downloading the free Safe Schools Maryland app from the App Store or Google Play. https://schoolsafety.maryland.gov/Pages/Tipline.aspx
Let’s work together to eliminate unnecessary and unlawful absences!
Frequent absences can be a sign that a student is losing interest in school, struggling with school work, dealing with a bully or facing some other difficulty.
By 6th grade, absenteeism is one of three signs that a student may drop out of high school.
By 9th grade, attendance is a better predictor of graduation rates than 8th grade test scores.
Missing 10%, or 2 days a month, over the course of the school year, can affect a student’s academic success.
Morning Entry to School

Please do not turn around in the construction entrances; if for no other reason that your passenger vehicle may become stuck. Also, pedestrians should not enter the construction zone from the rear of the property.
