We are so excited to begin rehearsals for music ensembles at JD!

Choir for grades 4-8 will be Tuesdays at second recess (1:40) and will begin October 1st

Band for grades 6/7-8 will be Thursdays at second recess and will begin October 3rd `

All students are welcome and encouraged to participate. These two ensembles will perform at Remembrance Day, Holiday and Spring Concerts.

This is a chance to sing and play music with friends in other classes and potentially collaborate with groups from other schools.

Today, alongside millions of staff and students around the world, we participated in the Terry Fox National School Run Day walking in support of those who are currently fighting a battle with cancer, and remembering those who fought so bravely. John Dearness Families!! We did it!! For the second year in a row we have raised over $5000 for the Terry Fox Foundation. In the past 5 years, as a school, we have raised an astonishing $22, 287.00!! . Our donation link is still open over the weekend for those who have called the school today still wanting to make a contribution. This is an amazing community to be a part of. We cannot thank you enough for your generous support!

Thank you to all who signed up to volunteer to assist with our hot lunches. We have enough volunteers to confirm that hot lunches will continue until the end of December. We will keep you updated about when hot lunches will be starting. Stay tuned!

Please note that picture day is on Wednesday, October 2nd. (NOT October 4th as previously stated.) We look forward to seeing everyon looking their picture-perfect best on Wednesday, October 2nd!

Our new Kindergarten playground has been installed! Although we are all anxiously waiting for the day when we can finally play, we do need to wait for one final safety inspection to give us the stamp of approval to officially open. We are hoping that this will happen early next week and our youngest Dolphins will be able to enjoy their new equipment before the end of the week!

• 6:30pm - Grade 8 graduation meeting for parents upstairs
• 7:30pm - Camp Celtic meeting for Grade 8 parents upstairs

October 10th- SPIRIT DAY - Dolphin Spirit Day

October 11th- PD Day

October 14th - Thanksgiving Holiday

October 22nd - Dental Screening (FDK, Grade 2 and Grade 7 students)

October 31st - SPIRIT DAY - dress in an appropriate costume (no weapons for accessories, please!) or Orange and Black!
