Congratulations, scholarship recipients!
Our students were awarded over $120,000 in IMHS and DACF scholarships and over $570,000 in college scholarships at the annual Scholarship Award Ceremony! Congratulations to our scholarship recipients! We are so proud of each and every one of you. Thank you to the Dickinson Area Community Foundation for their continued partnership and support and to all the guests who presented scholarships! Congratulations, Class of 2024! Additional scholarships will be presented at multiple events later this month.
Annual Senior Mock Interviews held at Bay College
The Iron Mountain High School senior class gathered today for a Mock Interview event held at Bay College - Iron Mountain Campus . For over 20 years, Iron Mountain High School has required students to participate in mock job interviews before they graduate. Several individuals from local businesses and organizations attended the event this morning. The volunteers conducted one-on-one job interview scenarios, while providing constructive feedback. Others hosted breakout sessions with the Mountaineer senior students, providing valuable insight to their lines of work and preparing students for their near future.
Iron Mountain Public Schools thanks the following businesses, organizations, and individuals who contributed to today’s success by interviewing students and hosting breakout sessions:
Veterans Administration Iron Mountain
Marshfield Clinic Health System - Greater Dickinson County Communities
B & B Electric
Iron Mountain Public Schools- Mr. Mendini
Dickinson Area Community Foundation
Career Sessions:
Bay College
UP Construction Council
Congratulations, Jazz Band!
Congratulations to the IMHS Jazz Band on their 2-Rating Score at the State Festival! We are so proud of you, Mountaineers!
Congratulations, Alex!
Iron Mountain High School is proud to announce that senior Alex Wilson, son of Jennifer Geneva, signed his National Letter of Intent to wrestle for the Muskies at Division III Lakeland University in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Alex plans to major in Business and Marketing.
Alex has been wrestling since the age of five. During his time wrestling at IMHS, he was a three-time qualifier in multiple weight brackets at Individual State Finals, two years of which were on the podium. He is also a three-time wrestling UP Champion in multiple weight classes.
During his time at IMHS, Alex participated in tennis, travel soccer, varsity boys soccer, YAC, Varsity Club, Key Club, and National Honor Society. Alex received high honors all four years of high school, and was awarded Individual Academic All-State honors as well. He will continue staying busy, as he is hoping to play soccer for Lakeland beginning his sophomore year in addition to wrestling.
He had multiple schools reach out, but Lakeland has a very “positive coach” and the college “felt like home,” Alex said.
Alex's mother, Jennifer Geneva and Jared Buchanen of Iron Mountain attended the signing celebration, along with Iron Mountain Varsity Wrestling Coach, Cory McLaren and Wrestling Coach Brandon Stroud. Iron Mountain Athletic Director, Brad Perry and multiple family members and friends were also in attendance.
Good luck, Brent and Andrew!
Mountaineer seniors Brent Mayes II and Andrew Larsen will be representing Michigan at the Business Professionals of America National Competition in Chicago next week. They have achieved top 5 placements in Technical Events at the Regional and State Competitions, securing their spots at the national level. They are among about 4,000 students from 35 states competing! Good luck, Brent and Andrew!
The Iron Mountain High School Environmental Club recently participated in a work day at the Iron Mountain School Forest. The forest has been part of the Wild Rivers Invasive Species Coalition Adopt-A-Spot Program since 2016. The Adopt a Spot Program was created by WRISC to encourage citizens and citizen groups to combat the introduction and spread of invasives. Lindsey Peterson, WRISC Coordinator and WRISC Project Manager Katherine Mentel worked with the students to improve the biodiversity of the school forest. Club members removed invasive species, including invasive barberry and honeysuckle and planted over 75 native shrubs such as winterberry holly. The club’s reintroduction efforts aim to reduce competition from invasive species and increase food availability for animals.
Environmental Club students volunteered at the Dickinson Conservation District's Native Plant & Tree Sale Fundraiser at the Norway Fairgrounds!
Kiwanis Senior Luncheon
The Key Club senior lunch banquet at Pine Grove was yesterday. We are all so proud of their service to the community and others!
Congratulations to Hailey Greenleaf, who received the Kiwanis scholarship!
Congratulations to the Student of the Week!
Congratulations to the Daily News/Iron Mountain Student of the Week, Jolyanis Rosario!
Jolyanis is an eighth grade student from Puerto Rico. She knows what hard work and perseverance are on a daily basis to keep up with her school work. She strides every day in doing her best, at the same time lending ahead hand to her friends. Jolyanis loves to play volleyball and spend time with her family. She is respectful to her teachers and classmates, as well as a role model in the classroom.
A message to seniors
Hello, Seniors:
Your Graduation Date is rapidly approaching - congratulations!
The return date for Senior Chromebooks is Thursday, May 16 (note - please confirm with your teachers that you will not need the Chromebook on Friday, May 17). You will need to bring in your Chromebook, Chromebook case, and Chromebook charger.
You will have two options:
- Purchase the Chromebook, Chromebook case, and Chromebook charger for $35. The model that is being sold is the Dell 3100. Other models may not be available for purchase.
- Please note that the Chromebook will receive updates until June 2029.
- Devices are sold in "as-is" condition. Devices do not come with any warranty from the school.
- Devices do not come with any support from the school.
- You must bring the Chromebook with you in order to purchase the device. We need the device to remove it from our management platform. Additionally, the Chromebook must be in an operating condition.
- Return the Chromebook, Chromebook case, and Chromebook charger.
- Please note that if the Chromebook is damaged or items are missing (example - the Chromebook case or Chromebook charger), you will be responsible for any charges. We will inspect the devices for damage.
In both cases, you will need to fill out the Senior Chromebook Return Form. While we will have copies on hand tomorrow, it is encouraged that you fill out the form ahead of time.

As Graduation Day approaches, the technology department would like to make you aware of a great resource known as Google Takeout Transfer. Google Takeout Transfer would allow you to download all of your Google Drive & Google Mail items so that you can move them to a Google personal account in just a couple of clicks. Should you need a personal Google Account, you can create one on your home computer here.
Over the summer your accounts will be deactivated, so you must complete a Google Takeout Transfer before that date. If you do not complete a Google Takeout Transfer before that date, you will lose anything contained in your Google Drive/Mail.
Please note that you should contact your university/college and other contacts with whom you have shared your imschools email address and have them use your new Google email address instead (or other email address should you use a different email provider).
Note, if your Google Drive account is over the allotted free space given by Google, or if you would rather download your files to store on your own backup, you can use Google Takeout. Google Takeout allows you to download a series of compressed folders that you can store on a home computer, an external hard drive, or any storage device you wish. Like Google Takeout Transfer, this process can take several days, so plan accordingly.
If you have any trouble or questions, please let me know and I will help out as best I can.
Sincerely,
Mr. Reath

Good oral health is important to help children be healthy and ready to learn, and the purpose of this screening is to make sure your child does not have any dental problems that would prevent them from doing well in school. Tooth decay is the most common chronic illness in children. Dental problems can cause pain and make it difficult for children to eat, speak, and sleep, all of which may prevent them from reaching their full learning potential.
North Elementary families, please fill out and submit the form sent home on Thursday, April 18 if you are interested in free dental hygiene care coming to North Elementary School on May 13-16, compliments of Smiles on Wheels!
