Thank You Brazoria County Petrochemical Council
On Monday, 12/9, A representative from the Brazoria County Petrochemical Council spoke to students about BCPC Signing Day. The mission of the program is to provide an avenue for CTE students that have taken industrial-based courses in high school to have the opportunity to work in the industry.
BCPC Signing Day is an outstanding opportunity for ALL CTE students to interview with reputable companies and receive job opportunities with pay ranging from $18-25/hr base, often with insurance and retirement plans. The average Texas starting salary for entry-level workforce is $35,115. The average salary for CTE students going through Signing Day is $47,865. This opportunity can and has led to generational change for some of our Alvin ISD students.
Cooking in Chemistry
Chemistry students learned about converting moles into baking measurements with the ingredients of a chocolate chip cookie recipe. Students took their converted measurements and made their own cookie dough and baked cookies this week. A tasty and fun real life application of science.
