Biobottles
In partnership with their nonfiction reading unit, 5th grade students read a biography about a famous person, researched the person, created a summary and speech, and made a biobottle. What is a biobottle? It's a 2-liter bottle decorated as a famous person. Students were encouraged to incorporate any materials related to their famous person and his/her accomplishments. For instance, Louis Armstrong held a saxophone and Betsy Ross held a flag. In writing, they imagined a conversation that might have taken place between two bottles. On Friday, the 5th graders shared their biobottles and speeches with kindergarten buddies.
All students had a chance to share their speeches, and they were incredible!
