Principal's Message
Here we are heading into December with a winter’s worth of snow already!
If you’ve been dropping off or picking up your child at school, the RECplex front doors are the best place to do that. Even when the buses are cancelled, it’s not unusual for one bus to do an in-town route, so the bus loop may have buses expecting free clearance. The only time it’s safe to drive through the bus loop is before 8:15 am and after 4 pm on school days.
We are officially in the second half of the semester. Have you checked the report card on Edsby? It’s been available since November 7th. Sometimes just checking the gradebook doesn’t give a full picture of your child’s progress, specifically, you may not know if they’re missing handing in assignments. The report card will show that. If you don’t know how to access the Edsby platform, then please contact Ms. Andrea Lutz in the school office (306-873-2352) and she’ll help set you up.
The basketball season has started at TMSS and our Tornados will soon be in league competition. Be sure to follow our Facebook page each week for the schedule of each team. We love to have spectators attend games to support our athletics program.
With the snow falling and families considering their winter getaways, please remember to let the school know. If your holiday is going to be longer than a week, your child will want access to both their Edsby platform and their school Gmail. This access closes when you leave Canada unless you let us know ahead of time so we can make requests with the NESD IT department.
Our school staff was particularly impressed with all the community support we got this fall for both the football team and senior girls' volleyball team heading to play in provincial competitions, but also with the food donations helping families involved in the bus accident. This is why we choose to live in rural Saskatchewan! Thank you!
Your support is appreciated,
Carmen Messer
Foods 30 & the SRC are busy planning the Eighteenth Annual TMSS Christmas Dinner to be held on FRIDAY, DECEMBER 20 at 12 p.m. This is a regular school day with regular classes and attendance is mandatory.
We are asking students and staff to either donate food items for the banquet or to pay $15 to defray the cost of the meal (one food item per person or $15 per person). If you would prefer to bring your own bag lunch to the dinner due to allergies, etc. that’s fine. Please bring your own water bottle if you wish to have something to drink. Payment can be made through the online payment portal or by cash or cheque at the TMSS office (cheques made out to NESD #200).
Please fill in the google form using the link for each student in your household. If your student is absent (please confirm in Edsby), paying or needing a chair you will indicate that all on the Google Form. If you are donating food, indicate that on the google form and then simply select items in the Sign-Up Genius form by using the link.
We also need parent volunteers to help with the meal doing such jobs as: making salads, cooking perogies, plating desserts, slicing turkeys, washing dishes, etc. You can volunteer for any amount of time between 8am and 3pm. You can select that you are able to volunteer on the google form or on the Sign Up Genius and then Mrs. Lee will contact you about your availability or you can email her.
All leftovers from the dinner are packaged and distributed with the Salvation Army Hampers.
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Kristin Lee (lee.kristin@nesd.ca or 873-2352).
Thank you!

GR 6 Shout Out- Christian Mairena Wicks- Adjusting to a new school isn't easy! Christian has adapted well, and has learned to be resilient as he navigates life at TMSS; including the challenges of lockers, multiple classrooms, and lots of binders, all while building independence and growth. Christian demonstrates togetherness as he is kind and helpful to his classmates. He has become involved with the Drama Club, and the Truth and Reconciliation Club. Christian cares about issues and can see things from multiple perspectives. Christian demonstrates integrity as he figures out next steps and boldly takes them. Christian, your quiet perseverance and warm heart are appreciated.
The Grade 7 Grit award winner is Addyson McShannock. Addy is a huge asset to our school at TMSS. Addy has the ability to make everyone around her happy and feel very positive about themselves. She is becoming a leader at the TMSS school. Addy always has a smile on her face, she is excited for whatever happens that day at school, and always brings a positive attitude to class. It has been a pleasure to get to know Addy, and I am excited to see what her future holds at TMSS. Congrats, Addyson.
The Grade 8 Grit award belongs to Carsyn Reed. Carsyn has shown her GRIT in the past month. She has learned to put the distractions aside, and keep her attention on her work. She is able to ask for help from her classmates, and assist others when needed. When absent, she catches up on what she is missing to ensure she does not have any gaps. Keep up the good work Carsyn!
Our Grade 9 G.R.I.T. award goes to Pepper Roy. Pepper has had a fabulous start to her year so far. Her detail in her work has been amazing to see. She shows what it takes to persevere through tasks that are challenging, without giving up. Congratulations to Pepper for showing so much GRIT this fall!
The Grade 10 GRIT award goes to Sadie Smokeyday. Sadie has demonstrated a strong work ethic in Nakawe 10 and IC30L. She set goals for November and worked hard to accomplish them, and reached out to her supports when needed. Great work, Sadie!
Max Shramko is a Grade 11 student who is smart, caring, and respectful. In or out of the classroom, Max is friendly and helpful. Often seen participating in SRC events, sometimes as Raja, playing soccer, or running track, Max brings energy into our school in many ways. He lends a hand to classmates and often can be seen helping his peers through their work, while being mindful to get his own work done on time. He is passionate and shows up as himself confidently, and he has an excellent outlook on life. Max is our GRIT winner because he exemplifies growth, resilience, integrity, and togetherness daily at TMSS.
This month's Grade 12 GRIT Award winner is Celeste Fleury. Celeste has been putting in a ton of hard work so far this year and shown a lot of Resilience and Integrity with her schoolwork. She is definitely rising to the challenges of Grade 12! In addition to her dedication to school, she also was a key component of the Sr Girls Volleyball team who made it to provincials this year. Keep up the great work Celeste!
November 24-30 was Education Week, and our Vice Principals Mrs. Ernst and Mr. Thiessen took time to deliver refreshments to our staff.
We also extend our sincere gratitude to our School Bus Drivers for their commitment and dedication to transporting our students safely to and from school, day in and day out.
It takes many different roles to keep the wheels of education turning! Thank you!
Student Leadership Conference
Mrs. Segovia and Mrs. Kovach took 11 SRC students to Nipawin on November 21st to the Horizons Leadership Conference. We listened to speakers Chris Gray, Jeff Gerber, and had a great time with Nipawin's SRC leading a very successful event. The agenda was designed to provide all participants with motivation, inspiration and information to make their school a better place to live and learn. We as advisors also had the opportunity to encourage students to look to the horizon and plan what they can do to improve their school and community, as well as share our love and experience for SRC. We hope to throw more fun events, share the school spirit, and work to make our school the best it can be. SRC is always look for new members and ideas 🙂

It's Basketball Season!
Basketball has begun at TMSS and our coaches are busy with practices after tryouts.
We would like to thank A&W Tisdale for generously offering to sponsor all of our basketball teams this year by asking customers to round up to the nearest dollar on orders to donate, and by supplying coupons to our teams. Thank you for your community support!
Community Togetherness
TMSS students from the community of Kinistin were impacted by a serious bus accident that occurred on October 28, 2024. In response, volunteers from the community came together to prepare a baked spaghetti meal for the families who were impacted. TMSS School Community Council, TMSS Student Representative Council, Reconciliation Tisdale, NEECIP and the Tisdale Medical Centre participated.
This show of support to students and their families was possible due to generous donations from Cindy's Independent Grocers, Beeland Co-op, Save-On-Foods, and the TMSS School Community Council. Baked spaghetti, salad kits, and homemade buns were prepared and delivered to the families. Homemade cookies for dessert were donated by Principal Messer and baked by volunteers from the student SRC.
TMSS would like to sincerely thank all those involved with making our TMSS families from Kinistin feel the love . We are truly #bettertogether
