Hi Stuart Mesa Families,

We are nearing our end of first semester. TK-8th grade will be closing the semester on Dec. 20, 2024. To ensure grades are finalized on time for middle school students, all missing and make up work must be submitted no later than this Friday, December 13th. After this date, no additional assignments will be accepted, and grades will be finalized based on the work submitted by the deadline.

Please encourage your child to check Google Classroom and/or Aeries for any missing assignments. This is an excellent opportunity for students to review their progress, stay accountable, and finish the grading period on a positive note.

Elementary students will be receiving digital report cards this year. Please see more information below in our TK-5 digital report card section.

We also have exciting news about Stuart Mesa. We were picked to be featured on PBS for our Purple Star status. PBS will be on campus on Dec. 17th to film our Lunch on the Lawn. Hope to see you there!

This Thursday, all Camp Pendleton Band middle school students will be participating in a Winter Band Concert. Please see flyer below. Here is the communication sent from our middle school music teacher, Ms. Doolittle: Concert Information.

Friday is our 3rd-5th grade Dance! Tickets will be sold after school on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, you can pay at the door. Here is the permission slip that is required for students to attend. All students must be picked up by an adult at the end of the dance. No walking home by themselves allowed.

Lunch on the Lawn is Tuesday, Dec. 17th!

Next Wednesday, Dec. 18th, our TK and Kindergarteners have holiday performances. Kinder will perform at 8:30 am and TK will be at 9:15 am. See flyers below.

On Friday, Dec. 20th, Santa visits Stuart Mesa. Each class takes a class picture with Santa and receives a special treat.

After successfully piloting a school safety and audio system at two of our schools during the 23-24 school year, the OUSD School Board approved installing this system at all OUSD schools. This system serves as an update to our current bell and intercom system. Along with audio and video capabilities, the device incorporates a safety notification button to alert administration and front offices of any emergency situation. Installation is tentatively scheduled for early January 2025.

OUSD is making an important change in our student progress report/report card distribution process. Beginning this reporting period, progress reports/report cards will no longer be printed and mailed home. Instead, parents and guardians will access their child's progress reports/report cards electronically through the Aeries Parent Portal.

This shift to digital grade access offers several benefits, including:

• Environmental sustainability: Reduces paper consumption and waste.

• Faster access: Parents can view grades immediately upon release.

• Improved communication: Provides a centralized platform for parents to access student information.

• Cost savings: Eliminates printing and mailing expenses.

To support this transition, we have taken the following steps:

• Parent Resources: The IT department has created a series of instructional videos to guide parents on navigating the Aeries Parent Portal and accessing report cards.
