Beaverton Safe Routes to School
October Newsletter for Staff, Parents and Volunteers
Thank you for walking and rolling with us this month!
Thank you for participating in this year's International Walk + Roll to School Day! We loved seeing all of those happy walk + rollers. We had at least 18 Walking School Buses rolling and two middle school leadership teams assisting their elementary feeder schools on event day. If you haven't shared your photos with us, please send them our way! We should have fun results and data to share with you next month.

Promotional materials
Assistance with creating a walk or march for your event
Information and resources for learning about Ruby Bridges
Materials to create a story walk using page reproductions (with publisher approval) of the book “Ruby Head High: Ruby Bridges’s First Day of School”
We have partnered with the Beaverton City Library to create a story walk for students to visit at Library Park in front of the main library branch from 11/1 – 11/16. Students who visit the story walk can scan a QR code and enter to win a copy of the book, “Ruby Head High”. This is a great opportunity for students to sign up for a free library card and check out books about Ruby Bridges.
Other ideas for your event:
Coordinate with your school’s teachers or library media specialist to read books about Ruby Bridges prior to your event.
Enlist leadership students to help coordinate and promote your event.
