An amazing month of April and heading into May 2024
Dear Evergreen Community,
As we bid farewell to April and welcome the final stretch of the school year, I want to reflect on the incredible achievements and memorable moments we shared together over the past month.
April was filled with excitement and success, from our inspiring Spirit Assembly, which featured a captivating Leader in Me skit, to our delightful Kindergarten and 3rd grade Spring programs, which showcased the talents of our students. We also reached a significant milestone with the completion of CAASPP testing, a testament to our students and staff's hard work and dedication.
As we head into May, I am thrilled to announce that we will be celebrating Staff Appreciation Week next week to honor and recognize the incredible contributions of our Evergreen staff. It's a wonderful opportunity to express our gratitude for their unwavering commitment to our students' success and well-being.
I am truly grateful to each of you for your continued support, dedication, and enthusiasm. Together, we have created a vibrant and nurturing learning community where every member thrives.
Let's carry this momentum forward as we embark on the final month of the school year. With your passion, dedication, and collaborative spirit, I do not doubt that we will finish the year on a high note and create even more unforgettable memories together.
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to our Evergreen community. Here's to a fantastic month ahead!
Warmly,
Dr. Cardenas, Ed.D., Principal
Message from Marisol Lara, and Trichia Tran ECC Co-Presidents
Hello Evergreen families,
Community Club members enjoyed a well deserved time off. We hope all families enjoyed their spring break as well. Last month Community Club was happy to support Autism sensory day and provide snacks for students during state testing.
May will be a very busy month. Evergreen is inviting classroom parent representatives onsite to surprise our teachers by decorating their classroom door. We love our teachers and hope they feel appreciated May 6-10th.
Mark your calendars for our annual Color Fun Run Fundraiser going on now. Please click on the link below to make a donation.
Next week we start our annual In-N-Out cookout on May 21st. Hamburgers will be $5.50 each and each student will have a limit of purchasing two hamburgers. Be on the lookout for more information coming soon.
Thank You for all of your support Evergreen!

School Wide Goal
Thank you students, staff and families for beginning with the End in Mind and Syngergizing to meet our goal. , 2024, all students in grades TK-5th grade will demonstrate and recognize the 8 habits.
The 8 habits are a cornerstone of our educational philosophy, promoting leadership, responsibility, and personal growth among our students. We believe that by empowering our students with these essential life skills, we are preparing them to be successful learners and leaders both inside and outside the classroom.
CAASPP is Complete!
Anddd...that's a wrap for our state testing! We are thrilled to share that our third through fifth-grade Eagles took the time to showcase everything they have learned during this school year. We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to the Community Club and Evergreen families for organizing the snack distribution to help our students perform successfully during testing. Our Evergreen staff also supported our students by practicing Habit #2 Begin with the End in Mind. We familiarized ourselves with the testing interface and test questions by taking one math and one ELA interim assessment each week. Moreover, our dedicated staff used the data from the interim assessments to provide whole-group and small-group instruction. We also had an assembly to encourage our students and to equip them with test-taking strategies. The strategies were spelled out using the acronym SWING:
S: Start by carefully reading the question and all the answers
W: Which answers can I eliminate?
I: I will take my time!
N: Never give up
G: Go back and check my work
Our youngest Eagles played an important role in promoting a quiet and peaceful school campus, enabling all students to focus better. We would like to sincerely thank our Evergreen families and caregivers for their unwavering support. Your efforts in ensuring that students got enough rest, arrived on time, felt motivated, and had a nutritious breakfast were truly appreciated. As you can see, it took a wonderful and strong partnership to support the achievement and well-being of all our students. Once again, thank you for everything; we hit it out of the park!
Warmly,
Mrs. Brown
Welcome to our new crossing guard
We are delighted to introduce our new School Crossing Guard, Mr. Sean Wallace! You might have noticed his friendly smile and his tireless efforts to ensure everyone's safety. If you haven't had the chance to greet him yet, please do! We extend a warm welcome to Mr. Wallace and are excited to have him as a part of our Eagles community.
Free Little Library
We are pleased to announce that Aiden Do, an Eagle Scout and student at Diamond Bar High School, has generously donated a free library to our school. We are grateful for his thoughtfulness and kindness towards our Eagles. We request that everyone takes good care of our new library. Our PBIS team has created expectations, which can be found in the photo below.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Aiden for his contribution to the success of all of our Evergreen Readers! The library looks beautiful!
